[Spooky] Scientists find that supermassive black holes are aligned

    Maybe my sources are outliers. The more I poke around about it, the more it seems that most astrophysicists are assuming the radiation profiles and apparent masses are good enough to call some of these things black holes.

    At least in galaxies like M87, NGC 4261 and NGC 3115, there's no other way to explain why things orbit the galactic cores so fast. These guys apparently range from like 200 million to 2 billion solar masses (according to the speed of things orbiting them nearby).

    Or, put another way, my bad. Useless tangent on my part.

    So to the original article, I assume they are just talking about the spins of the material near the presumed black hole in each case.
