As nice as that was, the audience I saw it with seemed to get an even bigger kick out of the batpod/cycle 'turning around'.
I thought that the boats would either blow up the boat that pressed it or that the joker was gonna blow up both of them no matter what.
Don't forget that whichever one was killed (Rachel or Harvey) depended on how long it took the Joker to detonate the bomb. Remember he had to phone it in...so it's entirely possible that both would have been saved. But he was banking on being able to bait the cop in his cell to a fight. He bet right, took the cop as a hostage and got his phone call. Just another example of being able to create chaos; in this case what was considered to be a pretty secured situation.
The bombs at Dent's and Rachel's locations were on timers. The cell phone bomb was implanted in one of Joker's thugs who was in the jail. That bomb allowed the Joker to escape but the Joker's phone call had nothing to do with the Dent/Rachel bombs.
This is correct. And the reason he doesn't know his own origin is because he's lied so many times about it, he doesn't remember what's real and what's not. Also, Joker is supposed to be on a higher level of sanity than everyone else. He's not insane, just exponentially sane
hahah, great description! did the ending where the kid yelled "Batman!" remind anyone else of Shane? I thought that was brilliant.
Saw it last night finally. Not really my genre to be honest, but I can see why you guys (and everyone else so it seems) really enjoyed it. I moderately enjoyed it, saw too many pre-teen kids there though, wouldnt let my kids see it until they were AT LEAST 16.
Ok I've already seen the movie on regular scene My friend is asking me to go watch it with him (he hasnt seen it yet) but wanted to go watch it on IMAX I heard part of the movie was shot with an IMAX CAMERA ... has anyone seen the different? between the Imax and Reg. showing? Any big "wow" difference?
The realism factor was very important...The comical feel was fortunately left out. i.e. the Joker simply added makeup to his face...rather than a "chemical mishap"...
i laughed out loud at the theater when that happened. i was the only one initially and i think others started realizing how ridiculous that looked started chuckling too
I got the feeling that the little squirrly guy who worked for Wayne Enterprises and had discovered Batman's identity is going to come back as the Riddler in part 3, though I hope it's as a minor villian (a la Scarecrow in batman begins) than as the #1 bad guy.
a lot of the action scenes "open up" and use the entire IMAX screen. it's pretty sweet...you especially notice in some of the building/city scenes
That was just awesome. Everyone was cheering in my theater, and some guy yelled out "yeah motherf*****!!" It was great.
I have seen both regular and IMAX. I had crap IMAX seats though. But yes, you do notice a difference. You feel closer to the action and you seem to feel speed better. I can't even describe it, I was hungover at the IMAX screening though. Or actually still drunk. But I felt hungover after it. DONT SIT TOO CLOSE!
I thought that was ridiculous and laughed myself. My brother and I both looked at each other when he did that. There was a couple of laughs/giggles in the audience as well. Don't get me wrong, it was a badass scene.
I had the same feeling a bit... he seems to have the same build and facial structure as the Riddler from the old TV series... Frank Gorshin And this "Reese" guy... Joshua Harto
I have to add one more "favorite moment" to my list: 5. When The Joker is in the interrogation room with the cop. He asks the cop how many of his friends he's killed. After some prodding, the cop says "six." I think the expression on Joker's face as he "mouths" the word "six" is brilliant. One of Ledger's best moments, in my opinion.
My only issue with the IMAX portions is it seemed like the dialogue was more difficult to make out. There didn't tend to be a lot of dialogue in those scenes, but what was there was hard to decipher over all the booming sound effects.
