Chris Nolan has already said he wont do The Penguin....I'd love to see Bane or The Riddler with the Mad Hatter as a side villain
To the people wondering, Two-Face is dead. They kept the whole "Twoface" thing under wraps so he could "die a hero", martyred so people still hold him as an ideal, and shovel all the villainy off onto Batman who can never make as much of a difference as Dent could
Only scene in which Heath is portrayed with no makeup and is himself... Dude's a motherf'in G' played the Joker to perfection
He didn't appear to be breathing, but you never know in superhero movies. The villain can always come back. Still, Nolan is trying to ground this series in reality, so Dent/Two-Face is likely gone. The coverup of his murders reminded me a lot of L.A. Confidential and how the cops protect the legacy of James Cromwell's crooked captain so the public doesn't lose anymore faith in the police dept.
Ok.. so at the start I was like ok this movie is kind of homo with the fake batmans..........................BUT..... after that I got super sucked in and hoped the movie would never end. seriously I wish that movie would have continued for the rest of my life. Seeing heath play joker was SUPER creepy. especially when he was holding the gun at his head. it was like wow. I thought the ships would each have their own detonator too. Even though I have watched a bunch of batman, I didnt get the coin / twoface connection until he actually had half of his face blown off. I was too into the movie to think. GREAT MOVIE.
I agree with Johnny Depp being possibly one of the only other actors who could compete with Ledger's performance... Though it'd take a lot to get that in the works. Also, they did leave the door open for Batgirl by acknowledging the existence Gordon's daughter, I don't think they'll walk through it. Bad idea. She might have a minor part in upcoming films, but I really don't think they'll fully develop her. And yes, Catwoman has been mutilated by Halle Berry, but the damage is not irreparable. I actually want to see a new Catwoman - there's a lot to work with there. She gets my vote for next villain.
Something I caught my 2nd viewing but am not sure about... Someone lend a hand? Spoiler Did Batman think he was going to save Rachel? Originally I thought it was just a loop to throw us off and that Batman needed to save Dent. BUT, I think Batman really was trying to save Rachel, the Joker gave mixed addresses to throw them off. Is that right?
Yeah, the Joker mixed up where they were. Batman was thought he was going to save Rachel, but instead ended up to where Harvey Dent was for the loss.
yeah, batman said he was going to save rachel, right? and gordon ended up at the other location so if batman had just been tricking them, they would've both ended up at dent's location, right? him mixing them up doesn't really make that much sense to me, but i don't know what other explanation there is.
Batman thought he was going after Rachel, and Gordon thought he was going after Dent. The Joker switched up the two locations because he knew Batman would go after Rachel. He knew that he had a thing for her when he mentioned how he dived out of the window after her. Thus, he was trying to corrupt him by killing her.
Yeah, I think he was also banking on Batman getting there faster so that Dent WOULD be saved and Rachel would die, giving him the chance to corrupt Dent as well by getting him to blame the cops...
I agree completely. Damn that was set up beautifully. That has to be the reason. Makes Dent going off that much more believable and the Joker's manipulative capabilities that much more powerful.
I remember hearing that they had to change the ending because of Heath Ledger's passing. Does anyone have a clip of the original ending? and was there anything after the credits? If so please post the vid
hmm.. now I have a question.. is this Joker's skin.. normal.. in other words, as any other man's.. or is the makeup his actual skin like in the original..?
Something that I thought of that could perhaps bring Batman full circle in this trilogy of films and could leave an opening for Dent to return. It was pretty much only implied that Dent died...and Gordon, his family and Batman are the only ones that know he committed the murders. The police that arrived on the scene are gonna believe what Gordon tells them. So after saying Batman is the hero they deserve, but not the one they need...what if Dent was alive but was whisked away to a hospital at some secret location under police protection. The general thinking would be to protect him from further harm, but Gordon really knows it's to protect Dent from himself. So Dent is in a coma but reawakens in the third film and fully embraces his "two face" persona. Batman then not only becomes the hero Gotham deserves but also the one that they need. Anyways, I guess it's wishful thinking because I want to see more of the Harvey Dent/Two Face character. It certainly would be tricky to bring him back in a way that would be believable. But what a villain he could be for Batman...you could even throw in a little Joker conspiring from behind bars (so you still get a little Joker but don't force anyone to live up to Ledger's performance by having them play a major role in the film).
I'd like to see Crispin Glover or Adrien Brody as the Riddler. OR James Gandolfini as the Penguin. Maybe Vin Diesel as Bane.
Your Riddler choices were pretty much who everybody wanted as the Joker, prior to and after Heath's casting. I'm not sure how they can go with any of the traditional villains without it feeling underwhelming after using the ultimate Bat-villain so well.
