I get the feeling that a lot of the TV viewers are gonna be shocked at how Arya treats the hound in the end, even with his bad guy backslide this week.

The more I watch, losing Joffrey, the Hound , Red Viper, and Tywin all in the same season, and Tyrion not being nearly as fun these days (can you blame him), it's gonna leave a major vaccum to be filled next season. Cersei will become the big bad next season, but I'm not sure how well that's gonna work.

Dany and her struggle to rule was kinda "meh" to me, while certainly realistic, it didn't exactly jump off the page. I really wanted to see her make for Westeros, or at least hint at it. I get the feeling TV viewers are gonna be even less patient than me waiting for her to join the frey after having so much momentum the last 2 years. BTW, still not loving the new Daario.

Honestly Arya and Jon Snow are the only characters with interesting parts scheduled, maybe Brienne/Podrick too if they play it right.

People didn't like him at first, but now that he's gotten some lines and screentime he's showing off some good acting. He killed the scene with the Mereen Champion.

Book 4 and 5 will start next season, so you get Euron, Victarion, Ramsay and Theon, Stannis, Littlefinger (though the show hasn't done a very good job with his character), Margeary vs Cersei, Tyrion, Manderly and Frey pie, to go with other characters who might not be fan favorites. There is good material there, and some of the slower parts of the book can be condensed, while the more exciting parts could be focused on and like it or not they will no doubt add their own original scenes. We'll see how they handle it.

Wow... it really doesn't take long to truly get spoiled in this thread. I thought it was only spoiling stuff from the show, and now events from future episodes that are coming in the book apparently are spoiled... thanks guys.

My one gripe about GOT is that it doesn't deviate from the source material at all, and it makes the show very spoilerific. At least the Walking Dead (while being a very problematic show) at least does a good job of deviating from the source material and having their own take on the story, and letting things play out according to the characters on the screen.

I think GOT is way too concerned with pissing off R Martin, and needs to deviate a little bit at least with their story.

Those two are very annoying. The actor playing Sam especially. Whats the point of them?

I don't think she treats him all that badly. The guy gets mortally (or so she thinks) injured and decides to leave him rather than risk getting captured AGAIN by seeking out help for the guy. It will be interesting to see how they play it in the show considering the moment when he receives said wounds has already passed. Could be they are setting up a nice character arc moment for him where he pulls another scam on an unsuspecting family and they actually fight back, stabbing the Hound. Then Arya uses that moment to rub it in a little (or not) and leaves.

Didn't TV show Tywyn tell Oberon he could arrange for him to fight the Mountain? So perhaps he will not be Tyrion's champion and can live without messing up that storyline.

I can't remember what else happened in the books as a result of the Mountain smashing his face in.

Agree on when (if?) he will receive the wounds on the show. During the fight where he should have received the wounds I thought he got cut on the back of the leg and that they were going to go with the poisoned blade angle (as opposed to multiple wounds that become infected) but he is clearly fine so maybe the Hound's rebirth as a good guy or whatever you want to call it will happen without him "dying". Doubt it based on the fact he is still pretty rotten but maybe something else will nudge him over to the good guy"s side.

Aside from this the Sand Snakes desire for vengence not much. I would love the character to survive, but realistically there not much for him to do plotwise after this season.

Dorne is supposed to be allied with house Targareyen in the book, so maybe they could involve him in that. Hoping much more than expecting, just such a cool character.

Use him in place of Quentyn Martell? Since Oberyn represented Dorne when they made the secret pact for Viserys to marry Arriane Martell and have Dorne support Viserys' claim to the throne as a result, it would make some sense for him to be the one to try to marry Daenerys.

He's like the polar opposite of Quentyn, personality-wise, but they could probably make it work.

My memory is that Tywin's offer of sitting on the small council and arranging a meeting/fight with The Mountain was in the book as well. I'm almost 100% certain they won't stray from the book on these particular plot points. Oberyn will be Tyrion's champion, will fight The Mountain and die, but not before he poisons the big lug.

I'm kind of surprised that we haven't seen a glimpse of The Mountain yet considering we know there is this epic battle coming up towards the end of the season.

So I am hearing the Internet is upset with the Jaime and Cersei scene in the Sept. If I wasn't a book reader I would just chalk it up to being a messed up show and incestual rape seems to be a part of it.

As a book reader it kind of changes Jaime's character though. He seems to be trying to regain his honor but is still a bit messed up in the head because of how he loves Cersei. But with him essentially raping her he kind of loses any brownie points he's earned.

Also doesn't make you root for him as much when he shuns Cersei later. But they may change that for the show later to so who knows

Agreed, as a result of this scene you really have less sympathy for Jaime. In the books I had much more respect for him.

I'm counting on it, and hoping for it. Just imagine this season without Oberyn, Tywin, and the Hound, big holes to fill.

You and others disagree, but aside from Arya and Brienne, I personally just don't think much of the material from AFFC will make for very good TV. Cersei, Sam and Jamie sans Brienne just aren't very interesting, IMO. I think they are primarily gonna have to use a Dance with Dragons for most of the next 2 seasons, with AFFC sprinkled in.

And the less I see of the Greyjoys and Boltons the better.

It's a clearly marked spoiler thread, so I'm not sure how you could have started reading it and not expected spoilers.

They actually do deviate quite a bit on some of the story lines, but the show wouldn't be as good as it was if it completely abandoned the books just to avoid all posiblity of spoilers. Most of the big events that you could get spoiled on are what makes the story good.

Yeah, Qyburn was in this season, he was the one who gave Jaime his golden hand.

I love the Greyjoys. The actress playing the sister is amazing.
And also can't wait for the uncles to show up once Balon is dead.
They're just a different sort of messed up family.
