I was noticing how her throne room in the pyramid in Mereen seemed more impressive than the one at King's Landing.

Yeah that was part of my point. That pyramid was awesome, the throne room was truly majestic. The cities are bigger with what seems like significantly larger populations.

I haven't really seen any major cities in Westeros and King's Landing's big wedding events seem small in comparison to what we've seen of Braavos, Mereen, etc.

The trial was pretty good. I thought they were going to draw it out, but I'm glad they aren't. Shae's appearance was done pretty well and I liked Jaime trying to bargain for Tyrion. I also liked the reminder of past events. I wasn't sure if it would have been done as successfully as the books.

The Yara/Reek plot seemed rushed and her escape even seemed a little cheesy. She couldn't have just killed Ramsey before releasing the hounds? It looked like it was three on three.

Tyrion's rant made the episode awesome.

I guess when you're using free labor you can make much nicer cities

The funny thing is that The Viper had the upper hand and could have killed the Mountain, but he wanted him to confess first and got cocky. Coolest character next to Tyrion, and surprise...surprise... we all know what GRRM does with those.

Good thing Tyrion is GRRM's favorite character or he would've been dead a long time ago.

Oberyn is one of my favorite characters though. Liked him in the book and really like how the actor playing him is bringing him to life.

and yeah he was so close to killing the Mountain. I was so disappointed in the books when the Mountain got a hold of him

A prophesy foretold the doom of Valyria to them and so they took the last dragons in the world to a place that hadn't been conquered yet, and they... conquered.

No, I'm talking about the current one. I guess she doesn't know how much of a hell hole Westeros is?

Seems like Westeros is Middle Ages Europe, the Slavers Bay is a hypothetical Egypt that went through the "Enlightenment" and Braavos is some combination of Renaissance Europe and Rome.

Of all the lands we've seen so far, I just don't get the appeal of Westeros. Seems like lots of poverty. Even the lords of Westeros pale in comparison to the other parts of the world.

Well this is historical fiction set during the War of the Roses period so your theories do make sense. Seeing as how this is the spoiler thread, can I safely declare that House Tyrell will win the crown in the end?

Well, maybe it's that the lands in the east aren't unified. You may rule a city, but not a country. We're comparing Merreen to King's Landing, city to city. But what about Mereen to Westeros, a city vs. a continent?

Oh, and one small thing that kind of bothered me. Ramsay and Theon are at the Dreadfort, right? Which is on the east side of Westeros. How did Yara and the Ironborn get their ships there? Did they sail south all the way around Dorne to get there? That's a hell of a long journey.

Without looking at a map, as I recall she said she was going to sail up a river or something like that.

During the War of the Roses, House Lancaster initially fought House York for the crown. At the end, both houses lost, and the crown was won by House Tudor (an ally of Lancaster), who then held it until the 17th century.

    House Lannister = Lancaster
    House Stark = York
    House Tyrell = Tudor

That's the basic framework of it, at least historically anyway. Margery's character seems to have quite a bit of Anne Boleyn influence, so obviously GRRM isn't exactly sticking to the proper timeline.

My guess is that Mace Tyrell or Loras Tyrell marries Sansa (obvious comparison to Elizabeth of York) after the defeat of the Lannisters (which will happen if GRRM sticks to the basic historical framework he's set GoT in).

Because dammit the Iron Throne is hers by right and she will take it with Fire and Blood.

My thinking is she is still immature and doesn't realize how good she has it. Her advisors want to please her and know she wants the Iron Throne so they aren't gonna go against her and tell her Westeros is a hell hole and she should chill in Mereen.

I think either the White Walkers kill everybody or Jon and Dany get together and kick White Walker ass and then rule as King and Queen. But they always reference that,"the dragon has three heads" so it could be three rulers in the end
