pretty sure the entire trip to the chemist was a dream: maze-like city structure, increased attention from bystanders, the japanese guy showing up just in time - just like cobb showing up just in time in the rich kid's dream, dropping the top ... all point to dream. also, there never was any talk about how they got there, or anywhere else in the movie. Is the lack of transitions between scenes in the movie designed to highlight the rule about dreaming ... or fool the audience? the world may never know.
Going to see it later today and am very glad that I read this so that I won't be confused on the plot line.
IMHO, I believe the top was wobbling in the end...with that said, I tend to lean toward the entire moving being a dream and his reality comes because he's with his kid again...he has the same image of the kids the entire movie, and in the end, he final sees them turn around, to me meaing he's finally woken up... Plus in a dream state, I believe you do extraordinary things, things that defy reality/gravity...my $0.02...I don't see a sequel, but a prequel, i could buy into...
Saw the movie last night and thought it was Epic. I saw it on IMAX, by the way. I'm still confused about the timeline of the part where he washes up on the beach and goes to see the now old Japanese guy. I don't know what to think of the cliff-hanger "spinning top" at the end of the movie.
I heard from someone tonight that the totem did drop after the credits. I'm sure it has been addressed but what could be the implication of it falling? Like most, I had come to the conclusion that everything was a dream.
This is the first time I've heard about a scene after the credits. I would think it would've been mentioned a long time ago and often if this scene, did in fact, exist.
