Spoelstra defends decision to not foul Pierce MIAMI (AP)—Heat coach Erik Spoelstra took responsibility Saturday for the decision to not foul Boston’s Paul Pierce(notes) on the last possession of the Celtics’ backbreaking Game 3 victory over Miami. The Heat had a foul to give when Pierce got the ball for the final play Friday night. Pierce dribbled against Miami’s Dorell Wright(notes), pulled up and hit a 21-footer as time expired to give Boston a 100-98 win and a 3-0 lead in the Eastern Conference first-round series. Spoelstra says it’s not part of Miami’s defensive philosophy to foul in that situation, and added that the way Pierce handled the play would have made it difficult for Wright to defend him any other way. Spoelstra says “it’s on me.” Game 4 is Sunday in Miami. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=Ap9eChLTL6cYjf9kDO_0xLi8vLYF?slug=ap-heat-spoelstra First tmac, then kobe, and now Spoelstra? Discuss.
Yeah... that foul to give would have really helped the Heat... Props to Spoelstra for owning up to his mistakes.
Miami has got to be the worst playoff team this season. You can argue the Bucks, but they don't have a superstar like Wade on their team. To get blown out by a KG-less Celts team is just...bad.
Spoelstra is inexperienced, do they actually think he will take them to the promise land? I hope DWade sees this as a sign and bolts from Miami. His team is garbage. There is no one on the team (except Wade) that I would want on the Rockets.
Ah well, the Heat are f****d now... Oh wait they already were even before Spoelstra dropped the "It's on me" bomb
That sounds very bad. Wade carried them on his back last game but he's not going to be able to do that for three more games. I'm sure that Wade is eager to leave.
