"..so melo, mare, jason kidd, and jr smith looking good this year?" spike nodding "..and steve novak? ..... i don't believe in him" I think we know what kind of ppl we're dealing with here
I don't agree. As far as my understanding, Spike is racially sensitive and understands the issues well. He was a supporter of all Knicks players.
Stephen A.Smith, the admitted Carmelo fan and the insider for the Knicks and Creative Artists Agency, wrote an ESPN article, titled "N.Y. couldn't wait for Lin to be great" : http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/story/_/id/8178617/stephen-smith-new-yor... In it, Smith said several things that were already obvious to many fans: -- Smith's title implied that Lin would have been a BACKUP for the Knicks; because he'll be a backup, they were hoping Lin would volunteer to re-sign with them for peanuts and instead spend more time endorsing products (One of the few full court press to that effect was a NYMag.com piece titled "The Knicks' whole future relies on Jeremy Lin taking less cash"). -- Smith said "The Knicks weren't entirely sure about Jeremy Lin" - Which was another indication that they wanted to use Lin only as a backup. A BACKUP FOR CHEAP. Perhaps Lin and his agent noticed and signed the only real offer sheet they had. -- Smith said that Lin "acted as if he was the face of the franchise" -- Everybody knew Carmelo, Woodson and CAA were JEALOUS of Lin's popularity, and quote indicates that. Marginalizing Lin as a backup for cheap would have fixed the problem. -- Smith said Dolan FELT BETRAYED that Lin signed the offer sheet that was a little more money. That would have been too much money for someone they thought was just a backup, considering their CAP SPACE problem from huge contracts to two underperforming stars .
That's just what the Rockets, and the NBA as a whole, need. A rivalry, tension, and the occasional fight.
Knixies are sure, tho, about the All World RayMound Felton? Melo is the face of the Knixies and nothing else matters, or can possibly get in the way. The system is such that the Knixies told Lin to get an offer sheet for them to match. He did. They didn't. This is all so utterly stupid. I wonder who believes Lin expected, or wanted, to leave Knixies?
