Btw, I've started to watch the cartoon on and off in the past couple days since I missed them the first time around. Boy, that Starscream sure is whiny.
the weird thing with evan was that they took the time to use real animals but they still had to edit them in because you can't film wolves and goats in the same place. so the end product looked fairly fake to me. they could have saved money with cgi and probably made it look better.
Okay, seriously. Transformers was by far my favorite TV show as a kid, but I thought the movie was nauseatingly awful. I seriously spent most of the movie wishing it would just be over so I could say that I saw it. I guess I'm in the minority.
I thought Live Free or Die Hard was the best movie I've seen this summer. i would rank the movies I've seen this summer as follows: 1) Live Free or Die Hard 2) Knocked Up 3) Ratatoille 4) Transformers 5) 1408 6) Mr. Brooks I think transformers was goof, but overrated. i did get a little bored during the movie. Die Hard kept my attention longer.
It was very good. If you expected to see a world class cinematic production of course you would have been disappointed. And obviously there was a fair share of cheesiness. But it had cool robots, a hot chick, funny parts and solid action scenes. I go to movies to be entertained. This delivered and no i'm not someone who idolized the transformers as a child.
I'm going to have to see Knocked up. My buds told me it was awesome. I saw Live Free or Die Hard and it kicked ass. Same for Ratatouille.
I was a huge transformers fan when i was a kid, I will give my take on the movie. I didn't expect much of this movie, and still it was a disapointment.I will write the rest of my recap in spoiler buttons. Spoiler First of all, like others have said there is NO character development, even worse there were no one with a personality at all. There wasn't a single person/robot in which i could relate, or of which i would care if he made it till the end of the movie. When Jazz died, i really didn't care. how could I, he didn't do anything in the movie. The decepticons were introduced much to late, you didn't even hear the names of most of them. And they didn't do anything besides that last battle. Did they even have a personality? The autobots were idiots, and they couldn't even fight. Prime was totally destroyed by Megatron. He is suppossed to be a great fighter, and a great leader, i really didn't see any of that in this movie. The scene in the backyard was even worse. Why would they trip over everything, and why wouldn't anybody see them. I mean they are supernatural powerful robots, They are great at fighting, however when they are in a backyard they cannot even walk there without falling over wires, and stepping on fountains etc. terrible. The Autobots all had unbelievable cheesy lines, I like some of the references, but most were just terrible, the last speech Prime gave was terrible. The fighting scenes were also bad, most of the time we (my girlfriend and I) didn;t even know which robot was fighting, only when they were transformed in their vehicle form we could see who was who. They all looked a like. (especially the Autobots). Why didn't we see more robot to robot fighting. I think we have had a couple of times that a Autobot(mostly Prime) would start fighting with a decepticon, and then we would just leave that scene. And after some time one of them(the autobot) would appear somewere else, we didn't see any fighting between them. Defenitly not how one would beat another. If you make a movie about giant robots in a war with each other, make sure we can actually see them fighting. There was no use for most of the Human characters. The soldiers and the Scientists were totally useless. We couldn't even feel sympathy for them (what a cliche to have a military talk to his wife and new born baby he hadn't seen in real life before), ok that was not totally true, we did feel sympathy for Sucre Why add those characters if you aren't planning on doing anything with them. And lastly, why would Bumbulbee want to stay with the kid, you didn't see any bond growing between those two. I gues they wanted to show how good of friends they have became, but they could also try to show that DURING the movie, and not only in the last 3 minutes. And Why couldn't Bumbulbee talk? And why didn he have that stupid radio to talk? (i know he was damaged in battle ) They should have just made it a movie where they actually showed the characters of the robots. Overall i'm going to look up which movies Michael Bay made, and see if it really was his fault, and if so i will boycott his movies (just like i boycot Mell Gibsons movies, even if they are about a interesting subject like the Maya). However i will probably watch the second Transformer movie, just because they are the transformers.
^ very well put arno_ed Spoiler my biggest problems with it... the ending seemed like it was drawn out foreever the fight scenes were frustrating i could hardly tell what was going alot of the time the soldiers were pointless and a waste of time 1) Knocked Up 2) Spiderman 3 3) Live Free or Die Hard 4) Transformers 5) 1408 6) pirates of carribean
Spiderman 3? I wouldn't even put that in my top 5, I thought FF: Silver Surfer was more entertaining.
my sentiments exactly. Spoiler people keep saying it's funny. sure, if you like recycled childish jokes. oh, lookie, it's a fat guy that likes to eat donuts, it's an Indian on the other line, and the ever so hilarious obligatory awkward masterbating scene with parents. (haha ) and they totally botched Prime's "one shall stand and one shall fall" scene. the last thing i wanted to see was Witwikitywicka running with the box while Prime was giving it."
Yeah Spiderman 3 was a huge bust in my opinion, Knocked up is still at the top in terms of my favorite movie of the summer so far
Absolutely. More: Spoiler Sam Witwicky may be the least likable protagonist in the history of film-making. I seriously wanted to kick him in the balls the entire movie. He wasn't even a lovable loser like Peter Parker or Eric Foreman, he was just Jar Jar Binks annoying. And why did that girl talk to Sam at all, much less get in the car with him, sit in the seat with him, and ultimately befriend and/or fall in love with him or whatever. I was half convinced she was some kind of Decepticon plot for the first half of the movie, but then I realized that it was just a bad movie. As drawn out as the final fight was, the resolution was lightning fast. They were like okay Megatron's dead, thanks for everything, The End.
OK, I went and saw the movie this weekend with my nephew and friend's kid. Spoiler I enjoyed the first part where Blackout attacks the military base but after that I fell asleep. I woke up when Barricade was interrogating Sam about finding the Allspark. I also enjoyed the battle between him and Bumblebee. After that, my enjoyment turned into misery. No time was spent on any type of character development, as already stated. The only real action was the fight scene at the end and even that was horrendous. arno_ed mentioned how inone situation the Autobots are perceived as clumsy but yet they are supposed to be great fighters. My favorite character when watching the cartoon was Starscream. He was funny, diabolical and unforgiving to both Autobots and Decepticons. In the movie, I didn't even recognize him besides him being a jet. And hello, Devestator was a combination of 5 different robots and not just a tank and Bonecrusher was a part of that combination. IIRC, Blackout was a tank and not a helicopter, Megatron was a gun most of the time but he did have the ability to transform into other objects I think and Frenzy was a jet not a radio. The only 2 that came close to being right were Starscream and Barricade, in terms of the original. The Autobots were a little better, at least they were all vehicles although not the right ones. The majority of the Decepticons showed up for the last part of the movie and that was it. The robots looked nothing like the original. Cheesy lines. Too much time spent on human characters and even that was done poorly. Hopefully Harry Potter makes up for this.
actually your memory is off on quiet a few of those but the main ones being: Frenzy was a cassette, Megatron was a gun but he couldn't morph into other things and they couldn't make him a gun for various reasons nowadays and Devestator was a Gestalt and they were suppose to change the character's name but forgot to or something to the effect. Robots would have looked even goofier, in my opinion, if they had tried to emulate the cartoon version.
That's right, Frenzy was a cassette. I could have sworn Megatron transformed into something else but OK. What's a Gestalt? I do know that Devastator was the combination of all 5 Constructicons so I am pretty sure that was right.
Gestalt is short for one of the robots that combine, at least that what I've always heard them called. Megatron was only a gun in the original series in other series he's been other things but never a gun again because of US toy laws
Never heard that but that's what I was basically saying in my first post. I read somewhere that his name was supposed to be Brawl in the movie.
