I dont know I can only think of that as a possible reason, perceptor was always viewed upon as a wuss in the cartoon and had like a british type accent/voice maybe?

Man, I finally went to see the Transformer movie today and it totally sucked. It sucked so bad that it actually made Fantastic Four feel decent.

it seems the decepticons were alot tougher than the autobots. in the pilot, one autobot even said "we arent fighters like they are, Prime."

prime and ironhide were they all ones that could fight, atleast to me when i was a kid.

i always leaned more towards the decepticons, especially soundwave. i thought he was the coolest, and my faveorite casseste was rumble. the little guy was a thug and would fight anyone.

I think the robot redesign and the hard to focus and frantic action scenes killed a lot of excitement I had over this movie. Other than Optimus, I couldn't identify with the other Transformers because I was used to the originals. With all the random chaos, I grew desensitized with the action at the end. I had big expectations for this flick, and I came out thinking the movie was nothing special.

"No one would follow a uncharismatic bore like you!" - one of the Cronstucticons to Soundwave.

"Hey! No one calls Soundwave Unchrasimatic!" - Rumble

But don't sell the Autobots short..

Springer could kick arse.. close combat or at a distance.. heavily armored was a triple changer.. Cybertronian Racer/Military Chopper

Jetfire could fly circles around any/all of the Decepticon Jets/seekers with better firepower..

And let's not forgot the ultimate warrior bots.. The Dinobots..

And don't forget Ultra Magnus, the quintessential field soldier.

He did get killed rather embarrasingly in the original movie though.. but that was against Unicron powered up Decepticons.

In the cartoon, Cybertron was created by the Quintessons (the 5 faced judge in the animated movie is an example) as a robot factory. The Autobots came from the consumer goods line, while the Decepticons evolved from the military hardware line. Thus, the Autobots were peaceful while the Decepticons were driven to wage war :)

By the way...did I miss something? I can't find the first few seasons of Transformers on DVD ANYWHERE. Everyone says they are out of print? Can anyone shed some light on this?

yeah they are out of print. all of my transformers seasons dvds were stolen from my friends apt when i was in college I needless to say was VERY upset over this. but my friend lost everything. I thought Rhino was going to re-release them (according to the special edition dvd of the movie released last nov) to coincide with the movie release but they havent. you can buy the "official" china collection, or buy them off of ebay but they are really expensive. I was lucky enough to buy season 1 for 35 bucks used at a local wherehouse. they didnt know how much it was worth and was able to find a season 3 part 1 boxset as well.

i am waiting for rhino to re-release them myself. I have the rest I didnt have on dvd-9s from my ex-roomates box sets so that can hold me over. If not I will be re-buying them off the internet at probably twice what i had originally paid for them :(

The movie had some really cheesy scenes and dialogue, not to mention some gaps in logic, but overall, it was probably the most entertaining movie I've seen to date this year. Bay sure knows how to blow things up real good, and the CGI was pretty sweet.

    One question about the Allspark:

When Sam accidentally used the Allspark on the soda machine and on the Cadillac to breathe life into them, why did they come out evil and start attacking humans? I didn't think the Allspark itself was evil.

Decepticons were originally Military Robots . .if i recall

I loved Soundwave and Rumble too . . his twin was Frenzy [basically Rumble except in black]

SoundWave's Cassettes: Rumble, Frenzy, LazerBeak, Ravage and the other bird [Buzz something]
