hey we are the same age. me too, i loved transfomers. i used to have all the toys then oneday my mother threw them all out. i had prime, bumble bee, megatron, soundwave, with all the cassetes. JESUS CHRIST!!!! I even had Metroplex! i say them on ebay and they were sellin for thousands . Mom!!! WTF!!!!!!!!
cool. i got that one for christmas as a kid... scorpinok. big arse scorpion that turned into a base. head popped out from the body and turned into a robot. well... hopefully it's this scorpinok and not that lame arse, skinny, rinky-dink, new one from the new beastwars or whatever the new transformers are these days.
i hated my parents for a good part of my childhood b/c they tried to pass those cheap knockoffs as actual transformers. parents think kids are stupid.
i was so embarrassed by them that i had buried those memories somewhere in the recesses of my mind. i really had forgotten what they were called until now. gotta go see a shrink again.
"migh-ty ro-bots, migh-ty ve-hicles... GO-BOTS!!!" that was so lame. those things could have been used for weapons. made out of steel or adamantium or something. sorry you were traumatized as a child. you were one of the people that my friends and i would have teased.
As much as I liked the Transformers, I think I liked Voltron better. Maybe it was all of the crappy Autobots that dragged it down for me. Also, how the hell are a bunch of cars and a semi going to beat a bunch of fighter jets and a huge gun?
back in the day i was all set on owning a skyfire toy but then my mum had to appear and tell my dad "no"
ugh. sm... i thought you were cool, bro. sigh... granted, i'm more of a decepticon fan, but "huge gun"? megatron, though one of my favorites, transformed into a whussy arse small gun that either soundwave or starscream would use to fire at the autobots. not too off topic, but have you seen "maximum overdrive" (stephen king flick)? don't underestimate semi's with human personalities.
I had no idea that was a Stephen King movie.. I remember watching that in the 80's and LMAO when the Coke machine kills a kids softball team..
i think the skyfire toy was originally a robotech toy but was re-branded/re-painted and then sold as a transformer.
I think I heard that they "borrowed" the mold to make that toy, but I have no idea why. Maybe to save money or something. Oh, and it was Robotech. I had never seen that show until I got to college and a friend of mine had like the whole series on DVD. I only watched the first one, it was goofy as hell, but entertaining.
