duh... that's like saying they should keep idea of giant transforming robots from the original. where's battle scene in the ark? where's thunder cracker and ravage? the decepticons didn't want to rule earth, they just wanted earth resources to get back to cybertron, etc...

This isn't a G1 'remake'. There's no reason to think it would be. I can't believe you're actually trying the 'it's not like the book!' angle with the 80s cartoon.
i didn't ask for a direct remake. it was just a a response to dookiestar. however... for purist, some things should be canonized, like the ark revived the deceptions after a crash (my favorate scene when i was kid) and choosing the vehicles. ravage was the coolest decepticon. and somethings in the movie just went against my senses like: Spoiler the spark cube creating new robots from anything... by just shooting at it???? and why would the decepticons want to rule a world with human "bugs"?
Exceeded all my expectations. It definetly goes down as one of my favorites. I will agree that they should have cut down on some of the laughs and added a little more back story. One gripe I had was the soldiers fought too much. It seemed like it was the soldiers fighting the Decepticons instead of the Autobots. The battle betweeen Prime and Megatron was mostly decided by the soldiers and I didnt like that. Oh, and Megan Fox is damn. I knew as soon as I heard the opening it was going to be amazing. Can't wait for the sequel. Questions: Spoiler I think the all spark was supposed to be a form of the matrix, which is why Optimus had said to insert it in him. At the same time, it wouldn't make sense since it destroyed Megatron. Also, did anyone notice that Optimus took something out of Megatrons dead body at the end? What was it? And what happened to Scorponok?
Ok watched it for the second time at Imax tonight, damn great freaking movie, a few things to say Spoiler As Rizzy stated, what did Optimus Prime take after Megatron was destroyed? Also, again I didn't follow the cartoons/toys/comics, but are they brothers? Or did he say "brother" as in like fellow robot? The scene after Sam's parents saw Mikala was hilarious. Caught how the father gave Sam the knuckle shake for a good job he did, hilarious stuff. Also, with the cube, isn't that want Megatron wanted all along? I guess use it to duplicate and use our technology, but I thought if it was inserted in him, it would've made him "almighty", which of course, didn't happen. Jazz had a very small part to care that he died, he was the autobot comedy relief but still, he barely did anything for survival. Doesn't anybody else feel they might as well use the military as "GI Joe's" while we were at it anyway? Also, this movie had Michael Bay written all over it. From the dramatic scenes when they went to war ala Armageddon/Pearl Harbor, to the Bad Boys 2esque scene with the analyst/hacker/secretary of defense/S7 dude against the decepticon. again, VERY entertaining movie for anybody to see. I do agree there was bit camera movement in the fighting scenes, but it didn't make me as dizzy as the scenes in Spider-Man 3
dude so i saw brian austin green at the premiere last week and kept thinking wtf is this loser doing here, he hasnt gotten decent work in ages. turns out he is married to megan fox. Life is not fair
don't forget, he was going out with Tiffani Amber Thessian at one time too didn't he come out with like a rap album?
Spoiler regarding your question AND a rumor about Jazz below! Spoiler Taken from the wikipedia page for Jazz ... Jazz: "You want a piece of me?!" Megatron: "No... I want two!" With these words Megatron viciously tears Jazz apart. Despite Ironhide and Ratchet's best efforts, Jazz does not survive. However, a new released Jazz toy from Hasbro and Target with the G1 colors, has a description on Jazz's possible future: "During the long process of being rebuilt by AUTOBOT RATCHET, there was a lot of time to think. AUTOBOT JAZZ digs his Earth vehicle form, but the silver paint job had always left something to be desired. It got scratched too easily, for one thing, and dust stuck to it like cyberflies on old oil. Also, it wasn't nearly eye-catching enough. Just because he's supposed to be in disguise doesn't mean he can't be noticed. With help from BUMBLEBEE and AUTOBOT RATCHET, he picked this color scheme as the one most likely to get him appreciative looks from all the humans he passes on the freeway." In a recent interview, the movie staff tell of a rumor that Jazz will be rebuilt in the possible sequel as a tougher frame. Maintaining the movie look, but with a different color scheme and slight modifications. It is suspected that his restoration is possible with the fragment of Allspark found in Megatron's chest once he is killed.
my best attempt to answer your question: Spoiler it was a piece of the all spark that prime took out, probably the last bit of fragment that didnt get destroyed within megatron. in the comics prime was the last autobot chosen to carry the creation matrix program within him which allowed him to give life to transformers, much like the all spark did. i guess one could theorize that he could try to use it to create new autobots, possibly it could be how the dinobots may be created in the planned sequel. scorponok was badly damaged in the fight and it seemed like while scorponok was a decepticon he was one of the lesser "soldiers" like a pawn. he was attached to blackout and was disengaged it didnt seem like scorponok could travel far distances on his own or transform. chances are he is probably in and around the desert stuck trying to somehow repair himself but cant. if they decide to they may have another decepticon find him and repair him for a sequel appearance.---sucks scorponok was one of my favorites in the comic books he had a very brief role in the cartoon series and was attached to a really wimpy character on the beast wars cgi cartoon and once again a small role in the movie....all the while he was a major bad-ass in the comics just as big and powerful as megatron and shockwave, heck Spoiler scorponok even killed prime if my memory serves right They certainly weren't in the cartoon, I dont think they were in the comics either (i dont remember it being the case, but i am re-reading all of the marvel issues at the moment to refresh my memory) They may have put that "twist" on it just to somewhat open a door for a possible sequel/prequel. i just think it was just put in there to mess with people since the line was spoken a bit softly and then quickly cut to another piece of dialogue. true and not true...at first they wanted to get back to cybertron yes, but after being on earth and realizing the rich energy sources would help them conquer the entire universe. they wanted to first control the earth before doing that. I mean even in the cartoon they had built a space bridge that allowed them to traverse freely between cybertron and earth so if they just wanted to get back to cybertron they very well could have but chose not to. and this and in the case for pretty much any cartoon/comics turned movie there are some things that just wont translate well into a live action movie meant for a general audience and not just crazy fans like me. I understand that. A battlescene with the Ark would have easily lost a great portion of the major movie going public as an introduction. Second, it would have resulted in having to create several more transformers (since a good portion were killed in the battle) and would have to have been all CGI. It took them upwards to 38 hours to render a single frame of CGI for this film and over a year to render all the entire, and this was with about 5500 souped up pc all working together. A scene like that would have shot up the production cost tremendously and delayed the release time further, the benefits of doing all of this would be easily outweighed by the costs. oh and lastly....Something that bugged me a bit in the comics as well as the cartoon was how all the transformers always looked the same in robot mode even if they were on cybertron or earth regardless of how their vehicular mode looked like. For example the decepticon jets were pyramid/triangular shaped planes on cybertron but transformed into robots that resembled f-16s. If an Ark battle was to take place the same would have to have happened, Optimus would have too look like Optimus even before he "copied" over the rig schematics, bumblebee with the camaro etc. OR they would have to look like the "prototypes" that came out of the pods or what their "vehicles" were on cybertron...either way going that would made it impossible to distinguish who was who. /end nerdish rant
i know this was posted here before but it belongs in this thread some NSFW language <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/bq1_6D9QS9Y"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/bq1_6D9QS9Y" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
Regarding the All Spark questions: Spoiler Megatron wanted the cube to recreate Cybertron. Essentially the cube would make the owner a 'god' in the transformer world; the ability to 'create' life. The Autobots were trying to get to it first, to stop the Decepticons from using it. Prime said something to the effect of if he's unable to stop Megatron, to put the cube into his chest, destroying it (and Prime). I think one of the other Autobots makes mention of why this is ('Prime that would kill you', etc.) but I don't remember exactly what was said. It looked like a remnant of the All Spark/cube is what he pulled out of Megatron.
Just got back from the late show. I LIKED IT! I seriously thought I'd end up trashing it. I didnt look at a single preview or any trailers for fear that I'd pre-judge it too much and go in with unreasonable expectations. Thank goodness I didnt do that and enjoyed it for what it is. Which is a very good summer action movie! I'd prefer to put my review inside the spoiler button, so: Spoiler The Positives - They did a good job of blending in and "canonizing" the original Transformers themes into a present day live action movie. They kept the Witwicky characters, gave the robots some personality, the kept protecting the humans interest of the Autobots. They did about as well as they could do to preserve and update. - I absolutely HATED the look they gave to the robots when I first saw them. As the movie kept going I paid no attention to that at all. It worked to give them that more "alien" beings from beyond image. - They did decent in working in some actual movie into the film and made the humans a part of it. Instead of it almost STRICTLY being robots in the cartoons and comics. We already knew the Transformers stories. They made it to where these transforming robots came into OUR world, not pull us into their world. Basically, good balance. - I knew if the movie played out decently and they didnt butcher it up too bad I'd love it. I was glad the audience as a whole responded good to it & got something out of it with the unexpected humor & stuff... Not just the TF purists liking it Some Negatives - It took waaaaay too LONG to get the actual damn Transformers in the movie! They just kept on setting up & working in characters and initial plot. CGI for the Transformers must have cost a ton. - This was probably one of Michael Bay's best overall jobs. But it still had to be Michael Bay-ish with CHEEEEESY scenes Stale obvious jokes, cliched characters & scenes, stiff love interests, almost cringe-inducing dialogue. Still its WAY more smoothed outand workable with the movie than his previous efforts, to where its just like a regular movie and not Michael Bay's imprint all on it. And the fact is, Transformers is 80's cartoon deluxe - of course it was cheesy at times in its own right So the potential biggest negative going in ended up working FOR the movie, good thing. - Since it got mentioned here though I didnt pay attention in the movie, yeah the John Turturro character went from hardcore villian to bumbling goof for no apparent reason. There was enough of those guys already. Actually any character in the move could turn in a funny moment. Anthony Anderson was over-qualified for his part. They could have used a relative no namer there. - The battle scenes were awesome. But like I expected with the robot models used they'd be too HARD TO TELL APART from each other! They all had silvery sharp edges to them and similar color schemes. I know they wanted to outdo themselves and really show off some sparkly CGI based off how they look but they could have made the robots more blockier and full like in the cartoons. It was like throwing 4 metallic scouring pads into a bucket and you needing to guess which one is which. I can't wait for the DVD and a sequel
i thought it was entertaining, but HOW ABOUT SOME FREAKING CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT?" Spoiler Jazz dies and really did anyone care? i thought it was lame how Megatron just tore him in half without even a trying. All of a sudden 4 dececepticons show up in the movie and half of them get disposed of in 2 minutes. WTF? I don't even freakin' remember their names. Starscream seemed like just a throw away character. OH, and if your gonna introduce Ironhide as a weapons specialist and Wratched as your 911 emergency at least have them put their trade to use some how. that scorponok battle scene was senseless.
I enjoyed the movie, but still hate how Michael Bay can't have one scene of more than 3 seconds. no transition whatsoever. it was better than Armageddon.
Following up the answer(s) to my question, could it mean that: Spoiler Megatron is still alive? I think Ironhide said something like "it COULD kill you" but it wasn't a sure thing. Sure, we saw Megatron "die" and get dropped into the ocean, but what if his spark was absorbed into that last fragment? He could possible return for the sequel.. Spoiler I thought an ending after the credits with the camera panning out the ocean where a visible outline could be seen and all of a sudden Megatrons eyes light up would have been the best way to go. Also, I think a lot of people forget that Spielberg was a producer. Maybe he's the reason this didn't turn out to bad..
to your first spoiler Spoiler i thought they dropped him into the marianas trench (or equivalent of) where the intense pressure and cold would crush their bodies. The transformers bodies did not react well to extreme temperatures, hot and cold. I dont think they'll bring megatron back since it was starscream flying away at the end if a sequel was made they'll make him the central bad guy, he had a VERY small role in this film and barely even spoke (one line of dialogue) I think what they could do is have galvatron be the new bad guy it would fall somewhat in line with the cartoon story line. Of course the story would be contorted a bit (no unicron reviving megatron and turning him into galvatron, so galvatron would just be a new/different transformer altogether) I do think the allspark killed megatron its the same as vector sigma which prime tried to merge with to find answers and nearly was destroyed in doing so, but i believe alpha trion saved him ok so i need to stop exposing myself as a transformers geek
