Yeah, great movie. Good action, funnier than I expected. If you have any fond memories of Transformers as a kid you're going to have a blast. So many references, hearing the voice of Prime, some other transformers I didn't know were going to be in it...just overall very well done. The 'alien' angle they took - with the look of the Transformers and the world's response to them - worked really well. And it did a great job of setting up the look and feel of the action/battle scenes. Negatives? A little cheesy at times. Sometimes the humor didn't mix well with the rest of the 'feel' of the movie. For part of the film you're laughing, the next moment a Decepticon is killing a soldier. And a little too much of the 'jerky camera' style for some of the action scenes (not all), but I guess that is to be expected with the heavy CGI and the way he robots were animated. Just overall a fun movie. And the theater was PACKED. Coming out, the lobby was packed with more people waiting in line. This movie'll probably make a ****load of cash.
My skepticism about this movie was absolutely shattered....such a great summer film and easily Bay's most complete movie to date. The first movie all summer where I wasn't disappointed in the least. Just a few minor hiccups though...the Sector 7 guy was very much out of place...one minute he's trying to be public enemy number one and the next he's a complete moron; they really didn't need to make him a comedy relief character as they already have others to fill that role. I also didn't like their take on Soundwave too much...reminded me of the droids from the Prequel trilogy.
Great movie....A MUST SEE!!! The dialogue was as good as the action suprisingly. The lead actor may have really set himself up for some big films later on because he was very good. My only beef was that they made Starscream a lil harder than he was in the cartoons (a lot harder) and I really didn't get to hear his b*^$# voice.
AWESOME MOVIE, from a perspective where I was never in the Transformer cartoons, I was more of a Thundercats/GoBots fan... , this was everything that I expected and then some. The story they inputted with the franchise was interesting and it worked. Shia practically made his career with this movie after his performance in Disturbia. Megan Fox is so steaming hot, its not even funny. Overall, I was cheering in my seat in a packed house, and there was never slow paced part in that movie. I can't imagine any movie beating this out of the top spot unless its Superbad or The Simpsons Movie
glad to hear, but wtf are you doing up so late? going tomorrow with a bunch of coworkers (was going to ask if you wanted to go with about ten or so of us dave, but nevermind since you've already seen it). got the cartoon theme song on cd and plan on jammin' loud when rolling up to the movie theater.
i think i accidently read a spoiler and sure as hell hope that it's not true. i'm not sure if i even want confirmation of it since i'm seeing it tonight but here it is: Spoiler did Bay put a twist on the Optimus Prime and Megatron relationship? maybe someone is just playing a joke.
I think I know what you're talking about and I don't think so...it was such a passing moment in the film that if it was true I"m sure they'd spend more time on it.
in response to macalu's spoiler i read all the comic books and i dont remember anything of that nature in it, though it has been several years but i would have remembered something like that.
I've got another vote for how much this movie completely kicked ass. The acting was great, the dialogue was great, and the balance of humor, action, and even sadness was great. I was literally giddy the whole damn movie. My expectations were VERY high, even though I tried to keep them low. This movie surpassed all of my expectations, and the door to a sequel is WIDE open! Great flick. I'll see it at least a couple more times.
for those who hasn't seen it yet, stay after the credits, apparently I was told I missed something big another reason to watch it again
After doing some brief research (and trying to avoid spoilers) I've read there's 3 clips at the begninning of the credits. Supposedly there's nothing though at the very end of the rolling credits. Can anyone confirm or deny? I'm going tonight and I can't wait! I've got that transforming sound looping through my brain now.
All the extra clips happened before the main credits started rolling...so you don't need to stay till the end.
Totally blown away by this movie. I was a big fan of the Transformers as a kid so I had pretty big expectations and it totally crushed anything I expected. I'd rank it up there with one of the better action films ever... T2 and Die Hard territory. Awesome. I may have to see it 2 or 3 more times on a bigger screen. The action is incredible. It's funny too! I couldn't believe how funny it was in some parts. Wow!
