I think computer technology has gone beyond Jar Jar. When I think of computer characters, I think of what they did with Gollum. If you could use an actor to fill in all the scenes and then "paste" the Venom outfit on top, I think it would look good. I do think it would be hard to get Venom as the chacter and not upset fans of the comic by not having the Secret Wars story at all. What would the Venom suit be? A classified weapon developed by the military? An alien being that crashed on a meteor? How could you develop all this in the space of one movie and not offed the fans of the comic? Would Peter Parker wear the suit through half the movie before he realized it was evil? Would he EVER wear the suit? I'd like to have it set up to have Peter Parker where the suit for one movie before we figure out its evil and Venom develops in the next movie...Would you then bring in Carnage? You could make 2-3 movies about Spidey Vs Venom Vs Carnage.
A villian introduced to the Spider Man comics in the early nineties that recharged the series. Many feel he became one of the best villains ever. The story came out of a cross over series in which a bunch of Marvel heros go fight in some other galaxy called the Secret Wars. Spider man is given a suit that conforms to his will. It will go hang itself up on a hanger with a thought and such. He starts to notice it controlling his actions and thought and abandons it. Turns out the suit was an evil symbiot. Eddie Brock finds the suit, puts it on, he becomes evil monster...Venom is born.

Not early 90s, the Secret Wars stuff was back in the 80s. So he's not really a new villain, just 20 years old instead of 40.
Well the costume itself first appeared in '84 or so. It didn't merge with Eddie Brock to become Venom until '88. By the way, is anyone reading Marvel Knights Spider-Man? The Venom symbiote is now merged with the Scorpion after Eddie Brock auctioned it off and attempted suicide. Great series so far.
Man, that sounds like a much more interesting story line than the more clone crap or whatever the hell just recently happened in Amazing. I don't buy comics much unless it's a highly praised story arc, and even then I usually get the trade pb after the fact. What issues from MK does all of this stuff happen in?
am i the only one who doesn't want to see another hobgoblin/green goblin villain at all? it's been done and it's not exciting a second time. i really hope it's venom but i understand if that doesn't happen.

****SPOILERS**** The first 12 issues of MK Spidey are one storyline divided into three arcs. The main theme running though it is that someone has discovered Peter's indentity and has kidnapped Aunt May. It's kind of Marvel's answer to Batman: Hush in that Spidey has to face off against pretty much all of his major enemies. ****MORE SPOILERS AHEAD, MAJOR**** The second arc, "Venomous," (issues 5-8) deals with Eddie Brock retiring from being Venom. His life was changed from viewing a certain Mel Gibson movie recently (not making that up, it's an actual joke used in the series!) and he can no longer deal with the personal demons that come along with his alter ego. Brock auctions off the symbiote (the proceeds of course, going to charity) to an underworld full of second and third-string villains desperate to make names for themselves. Don Fortunato wins the auction, and gives the symbiote to his weakling son. Long story short, Fortunato doesn't make a very good host and the symbiote seeks out a more formidable partner - the Scorpion. ****************** The latest issue finds Spidey and Black Cat cornered by the Sinister 12. Not a typo.
Venom is one of the best Villians but I think SANDMAN would be AWESOME in a movie as well Rocket RIver
I'm guessing yes on this one. We've already been introduced to John Jameson, the astronaut. Throw in the whole "Mary Jane was engaged to him" personal element, add a little portion of "Harry as the Hobgoblin," and you have yourself a "personal growth" story, not to mention a summer movie extravaganza.
if you're a spiderman fan even a little bit and you have a game system buy the spiderman 2 video game. great freaking game. vecsey -- i thought about that after i saw spiderman 2..that they could ultimately borrow jameson's son to be venom without having to introduce a brand new character. that would do. same concept...parker as his nemesis...seeking revenge, etc. i just saw a rumor page that says raimi was doing some interview overseas and whispered to the interviewer who the next villain was. the interviewer than smiled and said, "there you have it...in BLACK AND WHITE!" the rumor page made it sound like the interviewer was really obvious about it being Venom. also dushku as Black Cat is rumored all over.
I would vote for the villian in this movie to be sandman, and maybe another hell rhino or someone. With the story starting off the venom and then for the fourth and final movie have venom. hell that would be about six years down the line and would be probably capable of much more in special effects by then. ************************************************* Im interested for anyone that has read the series. How about a movie or two on the infinity gauntlet series. Im asking too much for this one, but i think it would make a awesome movie. Probably my favorite read in comics of all time.
