The writing was terrible, but it was a perfectly enjoyable movie. But, man the writing was terrible. Plot holes all over the place, clumsy vehicles for moving the story forward. But, when Spidey was swinging around the city, my 2-year old was clapping and laughing. That was awesome.
I watched Spiderman 3 and its hard for me to say this because the first two were good, but it kinda sucked because there was more talking than action.
It was all right. I won't go as far as to say that it sucked or was awful, but I was disappointed on the whole. I loved the black costume, but Emo-Spiderman was really friggin' annoying with his hair flipped and his collar popped. I wanted to immediately go find an emo kid and beat him to a pulp.
I finally caught it today. Not a good movie. It felt like it was 4 hours long. There were so many characters forced into the plot that nearly everyone was wasted. Venom - A complete waste of time. I realize Sony doesn't know who'll be back for a 4th movie, so they probably insisted on wrapping everything up in this film. But he really needed to be saved for the next one. And if the symbiote was destroyed, doesn't that eliminate the possibility of Carnage appearing in a future sequel? Sandman - Almost an afterthought in this movie. I never liked the idea of retconning the Uncle Ben murder. And what the hell was up with that last scene? He goes from wanting to kill Spidey to begging for forgiveness? Did he actually recognize Peter as his victim's nephew? If so, how? Gwen Stacy - Smoking hot but unless they're planning on having her take MJ's place in Spider-Man 4, why was she in this? Harry/New Goblin - James Franco actually did his best acting in this movie, but his storyline was all over the place. The amnesia subplot was silly and the "twist" scene in the kitchen was just plain laughable. Is this Spider-Man or a cheesy romantic comedy? I did like him coming to the rescue at the end, although I anticipated that all along since we knew Spidey couldn't face off against 3 villains. And worst of all was the Peter/Mary Jane storyline. Didn't we already go through this in that last movie with her being pissed at Peter for not being there? There's a reason some audiences were cheering when Peter smacked her upside the head in the jazz club. MJ's been an insufferable beotch since early in the 2nd movie. Maybe they should have Gwen take her place next time around. Oh, and you don't have to lie to protect her feelings, Pete. The girl CAN'T sing!!! The only things I really liked were the Bruce Campbell cameo(Ash rules!), J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson, some of the action scenes, Topher as Eddie Brock(before he becomes Venom), and the Sandman CGI effects. I'll also give Sony and Sam Raimi props for managing to keep all the same cast members for the entire trilogy. You almost never see that happen. Harry Potter couldn't do it because Richard Harris passed away. And the Star Wars Trilogy had different Emperors in Empire and Jedi. I hope they get the key actors back for Spider-Man 4. But go back to having one villain. And either give Peter and MJ their happily ever after moment or get rid of her and replace her with the blonde.
The writing was just really poor in this movie. Way too cheesy, way too many subplots jammed into it...it really seemed to stray badly from the first two movies. Venom should have been saved for a seperate movie. Sandman could have been developed a lot more, and with a more involved plot. The Harry plot was actually wrapped up decently (except for the out of nowhere butler thing) but was lost in everything else. Mary Jane was a pain in the ass. Gwen Stacy was pretty hot. Apparently the symbiote makes you go emo. Just...disappointing. The second is still the best IMO.
The way Kirsten Dunst is lobbying about Spiderman 4 it's almost as if she realizes she is on shaky ground.
WASNT THERE STILL SOME symbiote left??? from the LAB? that Peter toook to have it exam in the first place??
Holy crap this movie was BAD. Its handled like a Saturday morning cartoon rather than a comic. And trust me theres a big difference. Holy crap.
It felt like I was watching a frickin' musical. It strayed way beyond the borders of the first two, but the ending was pretty good with the exception of sandman giving up all of a sudden. I thought the Spidey/Harry tag team was clever. I totally forgot about.. There's the story for SM4
Actually, I think the saturday morning cartoon Spiderman was pretty damn good, their version of Peter with the black costume was better IMHO. <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/g76ZXL5BrHM"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/g76ZXL5BrHM" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
I thought it sucked that they didn't really delve into what the suit could do for Pete. They couldn't show that the suit could produce webbing for him because they already decided to have spider man have organic webbing produced from his body. It didn't really seem to enhance his abilities any in the movie and they didn't show the cool morphing like in the comic and cartoon either. Pretty much a waste of the symbiote in my opinion. The venom storyline deserves a movie of it's own. No need to cram it in with Sandman and harry revenge plot.
That Professor I beleive is suppose to be the Lizard [trying to grow the arm back] so The Symbiote may be the way he becomes the Lizard Rocket River
The Restaurant Scene with him and Toby was His best Scene to me Rocket RIver must have been some Good Pie
Well that would be way off course because Dr. Connors is supposed to splice the dna of the lizard to regrow his limb. Dr. connors is aware of the dangers of the symbiote so I doubt he'd go down that route. They never show Brock eating it so i'm sure somehow he gets to the symbiote or that portion that is left gets to him.
The movie did seem extremely long. I remember thinking "When is this going to end?!" I have only done that in 2 other movies, XXX and Aeon Flux. That being said the movie it self wasn't THAT bad. It felt long but only because they dragged out every boring aspect of it rather than showing some more Venom ass kickage. I was dreading the moment when they would make Venom seem like a punk but fortunately it didn't happen. That seems to be the running theme with the Spiderman movies: Bring out some cool character then make him look like a complete p***y. They did it with Sandman, with Goblin and with Doc Ock. Carnage and Lizard would be cool in the next movie. But there are still quite a few enemies they could use.. Shocker, the Lizard, Kingpin, Carnage and maybe Scorpion. So I would say they could crank out two more movies. But it will just seem repetitive. I cannot believe they have been able to make Spiderman boring for me.
