The best part about the whole movie was the new Harry Potter trailer that came on before Spider man even started. DD
i thought it sucked. cheesy, boring, and rushed. sort of without a point. and spiderman looks waaaay too emo when he's mad. bleh.
Didn't feel anything like the previous movies....Venom was rushed (way to waste the character). Give Spider-man a 5-10 year break.
so I go to Edwards on I10 to catch the 8pm show. Movie is great and all but 4 minutes before it ends the movie messes up and the picture goes black. Man the place went nuts. Nothing bad happened but I thought people could have torn the place apart they were so mad.
The waste of Venom is easily my biggest beef with the movie. They did a fantastic job building Eddie Brock up (much better than even his comics origin) and then WHAM! he just gets shoehorned into the finale. They really should have just let the Brock subplot carry over into part four. Venom is at his best when he's stalking Peter from the shadows and playing mindgames with him. Harry and Norman are better manipulators, but the fact that Venom doesn't set off the spider-sense and can appear seemingly out of nowhere makes him creepier. Maybe they can somehow salvage the character in the next installment... this should have been for Eddie what part one and two were for Harry.
I just saw this movie and... it was horrible. One of the corniest films I have ever seen. The acting, the plot, even the action wasn't all that great.A huge disappointment...
just got back from seeing it. there was some seriously cheesy stuff going on, with the freaking dancing/singing and what not but it was generally as entertaining as the first two. im not in any hurry to see it again though, or the other ones for that matter. i thought they weren't making any more of these but if they are then they definitely forced venom onto us.
The corniness ruined the movie for me. I mean Bruce Campbell's bit was awesome and crony in an appropriate way. But the scene of Peter walking down the street and the Jazz Bar scene were way, way too over the top. And I agree with everyone saying that they tried juggling too many storylines and shoehorning too much stuff in there. I especially dislike how they handled the whole Harry arc. I liked him much better as a villain (that smile he gives Peter in the diner was deliciously sly), and the "butler explains everything" resolution was downright insulting. Definitely not as good as #2 which was the best in the series, and not as good as #1 which had one outstanding performance from Willem Dafoe that elevated the whole film. Probably worth a matinee price, but that's it.
It was a little to sappy for me. And I'm a girl. At one point Peter was crying and I lol'ed. Just too dramatic and wussy.
yes, as others who have disliked it stated, extremely cheesy. just thrown together, and from the beginning of the thread, you guys who thought they put too many characters in it were also right. it just drug along.
I have to agree with many of the other posts in that this movie was a major let down. I walked out of the movie feeling let down. There were to many parts were it was way to corny. To be honest they had some nice scenes with Sandman but I wish they coud have had an equal amount of scenes with Venom. Venom was rushed and thrust upon us and before you know it the movie is over. Topher did a very nice job in developing his role. I really wish they would have had SpiderMan 4 with Venom being the primary villan. What a waste of a great villan. They really went overboard with Peter being so dorky in this movie. The prior two movies made him see much more normal and appropriate for the character. They really went overboard with the nerd quotient in this movie. I just did not understand how Peter (or any guy for that matter) could do the upside down kiss when Mary Jane is in the audience. I think that was ridiculous. All in all a 1 out 4 stars. I hope they give it an extended rest and bring back a new cast. I am ready for a new direction with the Spidey series. I would say the second one is the best of the three.
Is Kirsten Dunst in her mid 30's now? Damn, she's aged probably more than any young actress in the past decade. I have to go watch Bring it On just to bring back memories of when she was young and tender... I'll have to admit, I laughed out loud when Peter smacked her to the floor in that Jazz club.
