How do you know that wasn’t a reverse jinx sir? I have been known to try that during the middle of games.

Apparently not insane enough to trade with us- we have to pay the Astro tax because all our prospects are so shitty

Agreed 100% but it's a process. His adjustment to attacking the zone early is going to result in batters swinging early, which theoretically should lead to soft contact early. 9 to 12 pitch innings should make the 7th and 8th innings a real comfortable landing zone for Spence. I've definitely noticed a downtick in the # of foul balls and long counts, so I think he's on the right path

God bless Miller, Murphy, Strom, and anyone who works in the pitching areas of the organization.

6 IP is pretty good though. Sure, 7-8 is better. But 6 ip is good.

Agreed. Look it up- there are very few SP who average over 6 ip per start anymore.

It's not the 1980s anymore. Totally different game.

Agreed, he's got SP1-2 stuff. He's just gotta learn like any other young pitcher to go deeper into games if he wants to be a SP 1-2. He's certainly on the right track and definitely a keeper. He kinda reminds me of a young, healthier LMJ.

I totally agree and I'm so happy with the progress Arrighetti has made. Like I said he looks like a younger, healthier LMJ to me. to become an ace though he's gotta go deeper into games is all I'm saying. With the Stros BP this year I would take what Arrighetti has given the team over the last 2 years in a heartbeat.

It's beginning to look like the Stros have the pitching, including a dominant pen to win another championship.

It's kind of amazing that the Stros keep pumping out these outstanding young pitchers every year despite the scouting community saying the Stros have the worst farm system in MLB and the fact that they've got 2 or 3 more young guys down in the minors who should be the next Arrighetti/Javier/Framber in 2-3 years. The future is still so bright for this dynasty. BTW, Arrighetti is what we all thought Whitley was going to be.

The only Astro Tax is Manfred robbing us of two first round draft picks.

Oh, the other tax is due to injuries. A full rotation of MASH pitchers is why we're trading with anyone to begin with.

As the scope of his relativity widens, young buck will realize that the Astros never left.

I'd be remiss if I failed to note that I am increasingly impressed every single time I read or listen to this kid speak. This guy plays the notes he plays on purpose. When you consider the devotion to the practice of self awareness one might subtextually infer that he possesses from the way he communicates combined with the just absolutely grotesque stuff he's spewing from the mound, the possibilities begin to approach prodigious awe.

People that can desire at such a high level to focus their attention at such a high level wield a power that transcends whatever that attention may be focused on in any given moment.

This dude is a spiritual warrior of love - words and spinning baseballs are just decks of cards with which he's decided to play the trick today. Tomorrow it could be a musical instrument or helping girls squirt all night.

Can anyone find his spin rate improvement?
I was shocked to hear it was over 3k last start

It was over 3000 for a pitch, not the whole outing. They probably chose to highlight that pitch because the number was so high.

His average curveball spin rate was 2945, which is actually highest it's been since his first start when he was probably extra amped. Interestingly the SR on his curve and sweeper has been consistently trending up all year after his first start.

I like his delivery, and unless he's doing crazy torque things with his wrist it sure looks repeatable for a long time....as opposed to Lance, Wade Miller, etc where you could just look at them throw and say "yeah, that guy's got surgery in the future"

Yep Manfred tried his best to screw the Stros over so his beloved Yankees might have a chance to make it to a WS.

Good luck with that Manfred, you're a POS.

You're getting what you deserve for blackballing Luhnow. There's no stopping the dynasty train he built as long as Dana is as good at his job as people in the know say he is.

Click added Yanier, lets see who Dana adds this offseason. The Stros should be good for a long time because their pitching prospects at all levels are really good.
