If the proposed deal for Dikembe never goes through, this might be an option. It's purely speculative. It may or may not be salary cap compliant. Just an idea.

    Rockets trade:

    Mo Taylor
    Tyronn Lue

    Lakers trade:
    Caron Butler
    Chris Mihm

The Lakers clearly have a glut of small forwards. Odom is the most talented of the group, and he could make Butler an expendable but talented player.

The Lakers don't even know if Malone will be back at all, much less if he'll come back to LA. In Mo Taylor, they could aquire a power forward who doesn't board very well, but can knock down the open shot when Kobe draws a double team. Imagine if Slava Medvedenko could knock down a jump shot consistently.

Chris Mihm could step in as the backup center to Yao.

Caron Butler seems like a great fit for the Rockets. He's close in age to TMac and Yao. Once JJ retires, he can step in as the starting 3 and play a little back up 2, with Boki backing him up at the 3 spot.

    Thoughts?

Nah, Rudy knows what Mo brings to the table.

Would do this in a heartbeat, but no way LA does this.

    Think of it this way:

Chris Mihm was a huge reason why they traded away their "star" PG in Gary Payton. Mihm was brought in to share minutes with Vlade at the center, given he is a legit 7 footer, and Brian Grant will play PF minutes. If they did this that means Grant, undersized, will have to move back to playing center minutes to accomodate to Mo---which really puts them at a disadvantage.

As far Caron Butler goes, would LOVE to have this guy and no offense to Boki, I still wish we would have traded up on draft day to get this guy. However, he was a major piece in the Shaq trade and for LA to give him up just to take on a bad contract in Mo and for Tyronn Lue doesn't seem likely.

they need Mihm too, it won't happen.

damm we should just trade Juwan Howard + Lue + future pick for Gary Payton + Rush and then sign Fizer to Sura's money and get Mutombo for Pike. we'd got this line-up now:

    Yao Ming, Mutombo
    M. Fizer, Taylor
    Jackson, Nachbar
    McGrady, Rush
    Payton, Ward

i say tie with the Kings for #3 in the west behind Spurs & T-Wolves.

The salaries don't even come close to matching. And are the Lakers going want $20+ million going to the PF position with Grant and MoTay on the team.

I think that Howard is going to be a good PF for us. I would like to keep him. PF by committee with him and MT will be strong.

Bringing Mo to the table isn't the problem , it's getting him to leave.

Thank you, I'm here all week. Try the veal.

Off topic, but I just got in and caught the end of PTI and saw they discussed an "NBA Trade" topic. What was the deal they discussed? Anyone? Thanks.

I said we "should" trade Howard for GP when the Lakers were shopping him around. Howard+Lue+pick should be more attractive than Mihm+Atkins+Banks isn't it?

Juwan should be ok but i'd prefer Payton+Fizer if we had a chance.
