I still don't understand why we don't just make Yao the back-up center in the playoffs only. It wouldn't be the first time, Horry did for years with the spurs.

I am thoroughly disappointed by the Yao era. Such a great guy, such promise...such horrible luck.

Earlier on there were reports that Yao was training hard at Toyota Centre, now he is quitting?

Look at the source of this report, Wang Meng, a guy made famous because of Yao, basically spread some rumors to get his popularity again....

So I say, do not trust this report!

wtf?! Instead of telling the team first, he goes through the Chinese Stephen A Smith, Wang Meng, to announce his retirement. Just like our other superstar.

    Looks very speculative.

With that said if Yao does chose to retire.. It shouldn't come as a surprise.

If they Rockets somehow manage to land an All-Star player I hope he tries to come back If not, I don't really see the point.

Can't find the article either. If it's really a sina.com article, it's pretty old. There have been no breaking news in China about Yao recently.

If he does retire, maybe he can pull a Tiki Barber and come back for one more go-round after he gets the itch again after watching basketball for a few years. He's still young, and if his body feels up to it, and the Rockets have a great team, why not?
