I'm sure we've all read the article from the NY Daily News speculating that D'Antoni and Lin might be reunited in 2013. With this a possibility, however slight, I started thinking about all this cap space the Rockets have now AND the real possibility that Les won't want Howard at February's trade deadline. I recall that Lin and Stoudemire played well together last season when Carmelo was out of the lineup (can somebody find those stats?). IF the Rockets do end up reuniting Lin and D'Antoni in 2013, it might not be a bad idea to also use that cap space, work up a trade and get Amar'e to Houston. Think about it: PG - Lin SG - Lamb SF - White PF - Stoudemire C - Asik Players given up for Amar'e - Parsons, Jones, Martin
This is not a random trade proposal. It is a thread meant to start discussion about the possibility Amar'e is a Rocket in 2013. I realize some of you will start banging heads out there (like dude above), but this IS something worth talking about. If Les was/is willing to rent Dwight Howard for one year and trade away our entire team to do it... then he'll most definitely look into adding a PF of Amar'e's caliber via trade next offseason. Maybe even at Feb's trade deadline.
Lin was at his best playing without Stoudemire. http://www.nba.com/2012/news/features/john_schuhmann/07/19/knicks-amare-carmelo/index.html
1) D'Antoni is not coming to Houston. Next in line if McHale fails is Finch who is being groomed for the job 2) Amare is on the downhill slide of a promising career with a huge contract, not a Morey type of player (anymore). So no, none of this will happen.
