Ed Davis and the Grizzlies are apparently talking contract extension. http://www.3sob.com/october-2013/3sob-radio-week-two/9869/ He was arguable their main target in the Rudy Gay trade and was having a nice efficient year for Toronto before the deal. Reportedly Lionel Hollins didn't like him and didn't play him as much. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/d/davised01.html So, thoughts? Is Ed Davis special enough to warrant a lucrative extension? How much should they pay him?
No. Mo Spieghts was and is better than Ed Davis. But Pera and Co. see Davis as the heir apparent to ZBO. I don't see it personally.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>On extension front, I'm told the notion of Ed Davis & Grizzlies striking a deal before the Thursday deadline is, at the moment. a long shot.</p>— Sam Amick (@sam_amick) <a href="https://twitter.com/sam_amick/statuses/394497807542804480">October 27, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
coach hollins always smiled on camera and always said the right things about special ed. Never would a coach hold it against a player because he was not down with the acquisition to begin with. Never. Actually it happens a lot. But on the signing,Ed doesn't deserve a special extension, that would be like bidding against yourself. He can be a damn good player playing next to the stay puft marshmallow man once eddie winslow moves on. but right now you don't have to sign him for a crazy amount.
