yea i was just referring to the fact that mannix claims yao won't be traded and the trade included yao, that is all. all in all it is a good trade i agree.
Awesome.... If Morey ends up making zero trades before the end of this season, and doesn't pick up any draft picks for Jefferies or Battier... is this the worst possible scenario that could have happened in your opinion Bima?? This reason being your going into the summer without a playoff spot, 14th pick in weak draft, and possibly have to let go of a player or two like Budinger, and Ish Smith to make roster space for picks.
Yes, it is the worst possible scenario. Fortunately, though, at least the Rockets still have some cap flexibility. They'll likely have a decent amount of cap room, especially if they lose Aaron Brooks. While that would be far less preferable, IMO, than having a huge Yao TPE, it's not like the Rockets will be in salary cap hell for the next few years. And they do NOT need to let go of Chase or Ish to open roster spots for rookies. Those spots will be created by losing guys like Jeffries and Battier.
Concrete numbers are around $5 million a year which comes from Chinese companies who advertise at the Toyota Center only because Yao plays here. Numbers that is hard to quatify: 1. Fans who attend games because of Yao especially the millions of Asian Americans around the country. 2. The hundreds of millions Les made in business deals in China that are not Rockets related. Could he have made those deals with out the fame and connection he received being associated with Yao? 3. The Rockets have increase dramatically tens of millions in value since Yao joined the team. How much of that is because of Yao? Toyota for example decided to sponsor the Rockets partly because of Yao 4. Yao has been an all nba center. Made like 5 all nba teams and helped the Rockets make the playoffs numerous times. How much money has that made Les. Remember Les lost 80% of his wealth in the stock market when his company tanked but he has been made hold because of his business deals in China
And we can immortalize him with a set of "11" crutches to go next to Hakeem's jersey out front of Toyota Center.
Who let the angry redneck out of his cage? Go back to the "Houston Sports" section on Texanstalk where your useless, idiotic posts will be more than appreciated, phaggot.
actually he makes valid points...the love affair with morey is over. this offseason and trade deadline has produced many opportunities…that he has missed for whatever reason… wether its over valuing his assets…acquiring the wrong assets…bad drafting…. Ive already posted my thoughts on other posts… But now loosing out on melo, d will and g wallace…its just starting to look like he is the GM we thought he was.
Letting go of Budinger and Ish were strickly hypotheticals. Obviously there will be room for two picks if Jefferies and Battier are not re-signed, but the theory here is that young players do not get better without playing time. With no deal to be made before the summer, I find it hard to believe that Morey will not open up playing time for young players again next season. I could see Jermaine Taylor type of moves being made to give some guys opportunities on other teams. Ideally a team has players like a "Mike Harris" to take up that last spot on the bench as insurance rather than young players they want to be part of their future. Keeping Ish, Williams, at least 2 draft picks, stashed away for future years would be a severe mistake. My opinion is even if it is not equal in value, Morey needs to bite the bullet to move a player or two for future picks and free up roster space at the same time. Would help even further to get under the cap as well. Keeping a developing ever player the Rockets have and will have is a bad move IMO.
