damn it! I've honestly been a die hard morey supporter from day 1. Keeping mchale is the 1 move that really boggles my mind. what a screw up this is. one of the best tactical coaches in the game is available and we have one of the worst... and we don't make that coaching change?
Still hoping that Morey gets to sign an Associate Head Coach but who is out there that is willing to take on the position?
well they all believe they deserve to be head coaches and would rather work for ESPN next year. mike brown and mike woodson are pretty average but the biggest names left in defensive strategy. both are pretty good at preparing the team for the game but slow at in game adjustments. meh to both. I'm gonna be so disappointed if the rockets miss out on lebron, melo, bosh, love, rondo, lowry and hollins... and return next year with mchale and jordan hill. another first round loss. we either need so much talent that there is no way they lose, or a head coach that can actually come up with a strategy to win. right now we don't have either.
From what we have heard, most players respect and love playing for McHale. He was one of the main reasons Dwight considered us. He could be the reason we land Love. I have no problem with him being our coach right now. All we need is a solid assistant coach. Hollins would have been ideal.
of course they love playing for mchale. no one is held accountable for anything. i get that he was a main recruiter of dwight and maybe love, but he also won't win us any playoff series. so, sure, keep him as the head coach through this summer's free agency. let him contribute to the pitch meetings. after parsons is signed we won't have any cap space for the next few years, no more chances to chase after free agents. all moves will be up to morey to make a trade. so at that point can we fire this guy and get a real coach?
So, Hollins at $4M isn't any more than Fisher, Kerr or Kidd. That's gotta hurt the ego... though probably not as much as being an Assistant Coach to Kevin McHale.
he's ok at game preparation but slow at in game adjustments, if he actually decides to make any. however, he might be the best option left.
Larry Drew got a raw deal with the Bucks. He did a pretty good job in Atlanta before. He might be the ideal veteran assistant coach for McHale.
