    It's about potential guys.

I know there are proven coaches out there. But is JVG much less risky? What if he can't adapt to the new NBA?

Luke Walton has some question marks for sure. But I feel like he has, luckily, been in the perfect winning environments and learned from some of the most accomplished coaches. Comes from a basketball family. Forced himself into the NBA as a player by always playing hard and smart. He has almost two years as the Head Assistant coach of the best team in the NBA. As a bonus, he got half a season's worth of keeping the Warriors humming as head coach.

There's a lot of potential there. We need to think about the possibility of having a coach for the longer term, like 10 years. If that includes half a season of growing pains in exchange for a very high ceiling, I'll take that.

I would be equally happy with Messina or Boylen. But we shouldn't downplay Walton's potential.

No...but I don't see how he'd be back as HC. Didn't do enough to stay in conversation

I dont understand why gsw denied the kings permission to talk to walton. Is there any personal issue between the two managments?

    Maybe Walton is not interested?

Would make sense, there are better teams willing to hire him. Randive is unpredictable and Divac is pretty new to this.

But the media is saying the organization denied permission, which is strange.

Not sure if this matters, but Vivek was co owner of the Warriors years ago, maybe they're not in good relationtship anymore.

If the coach isnt interested the kings would know it and not even ask.

Hence my question before your post....my guess is GS will ask Walton if he wants to interview for a certain team, if he says no, they dont grant permission.

blows my mind more how you think JVG is any more of a proven commodity than Walton is at this point in time.

Ease up dude... when did anyone say that they're signing Luke Walton over JVG?

Its called "doing your due diligence" and making sure you find the right fit. Maybe Walton's the right fit. Maybe JVG. IMO, JVG's the guy.

Mark Jackson's been tossed around too - for what it's worth, he did turn the GSW franchise around from always in the lottery to 2 straight playoff appearances in his 3 seasons there.

Lots of candidates available - gotta make the right decision. Cant make an impulsive decision that can potentially send the franchise back 5+ years.
