My all-time favorite Clyde Drexler quote: "I just think...that for the most part..." fortunately for me, I get to hear it every time he speaks. ------------------
You know, I don't think Hakeem is dumb by any means, but he sounded like a complete idiot during his speech at the Barkley farewell ceremony. It was a nightmare. Allen Iverson's no brain doctor, either. Greg Ostertag is so stupid, he failed his Hooked on Phonics final exam. ------------------ No one ever has, or ever will again, play the game of basketball with the verve and skill of 7-foot Kelvin Cato. BEHOLD YOUR NEW GOD.
I agree with Dreamer...if you have a big body and no brain, you won´t have to face unemployment until a career-ending injury (at the age of 22). I think Shaq once said, when asked if he had already visited the Akrpolis in Athens : <I don´t remember every team we played against> LOL. Does someone else remember? That´s simply great. Who do you think are the most intelligent players, speaking of their IQs? Is it true that Kobe made pretty good grades at college?
Jovi, Kobe went to college? Oh,...perhaps UCLA during the summer? I'm at UT right now, and I see Ricky Williams in the library and walking around campus. I read in the paper he's trying to get an edumacation. =) -Elie17 ------------------
1) Scaraval: every word of what you wrote is true, but it doesn't make any of the players we've suggested any smarter. 2) Jovi: Kobe scored 1080 on his SAT. That's not a spectacular score by any means, but I would imagine it's above or near the national average. It's certainly spectacular for a blue-chip high school basketball prospect. 1996 SAT score information The average score for a black student taking the 1996 SAT was 856. PS: I kicked Kobe's ass. ------------------ He's a center! He's a guard! He's seven feet of unbridled talent. He slices, dices, and can even cut through a TIN CAN! He's Kelvin Cato, and he can be yours for a low low price!
jovi, i believe that bobby phills was one of the smartest players in the nba. He would have been a doctor if he didnt make it in b-ball. I believe he was the valedictorian in his high school, and possibly even college. As for current players, doesnt mutombo speak alot of languages ? he doesnt strike me as smart though. Kevin Johnson ? Steve kerr ? Hornacek ? ------------------ "Don't they get cable in Canada ?" Keith olbermann, after watching hakeem block terry catledge's shot 5 times.
isnt john amaechi supposd to be really smart? i remember reading somewhere he was talking about how basketball was just a temporary thing and his real dream was to become some kind of amazing child psychologist. and another thing.. like all these shaq quotes. i wonder if anyone has ever actually told him just how stupid he is? ------------------ you are to be praised by gods and revered as women.
Tell shaq how stupid he is?!? Not sure anyone dares...he's 7'3, and weighs about as much as your Toyota 4-runner. Oh, Wait--Charles definitely would tell Shaq something like that; he's the most Truthful person I've ever met! Is that the same thing as being Modest? Elie17 ------------------
Erhhhh...whoops.. of course, I was talking about his grades in highschool...this test BK mentioned. We don´t really have this in Germany, but someone told me he had scored pretty good.
Karl Malone is the most stupidest sounding talker I ever hearded. Payton sound like an idiot, himself. I think at the end of the game the other night they were quoting each other their favorite passages from Stephen Hawking's latest book. ------------------ Pig Miller was in "Space Jam"
please dont' be talking about clyde. the guy is very smart and i've met him a lot of times and he comes off as a smart person. remember these guys play basketball not public speaking. i challenge any of you to do 5 interviews 82 games a year for 15 years and see how you look. i mean when you do that many interviews it is kind of hard to not keep repeating yourself ------------------ Shane "Save Our Rockets" "Life without basketball in Houston........without an arena that is what it will be"
Articulate speaking is not always a sign of intelligence. I can turn ya on to a few people that sound like genuiuses, but have no idea what the hell they're talking about. And vice versa. I wonder how Einstein would come across if Ahmad Rashad stuck a mic in his face after spending some 3 hours developing some obscure theory. ------------------
Lawrence Funderburke: His full name is Lawrence Damon Funderburke Graduated magna c*m laude from Ohio State with a degree in business finance Would like to own his own financial planning company after his playing career ends Speaks some Spanish and Greek Not sure but I seem to remember someone mentioning he was a Rhoades Scholar. ------------------ You just want to be on the side thats winning.
Some of this strikes me as a bit arrogant. You know, the Tyler Rose was dumber than a stick too, but I rather have him running an athletic department than De los Dodds *for those who undertstand the reference). I would rather have nice, good intentioned, not the brightest fellow running things and getting big dough than the smartest conniving jerk in the world. One other thing, a lot of people questioned Terry Bradshaw’s (I can’t remember Hollywood Henderson’s quote about him but it was really funny), Larry Bird’s (“the Hick from Lick” or something like that) and even Barkley’s intellect, but if you listen to them they are quite insightful and entertaining—they would be the kind of people I would most enjoy dinner with. ------------------
Lawrence Funderburke is also the guy who says that the end of the world is very near. I am not sure but I think he predicted it for last new year's eve. ------------------
Any one who heard the interview on the Jime Rome Show knows Shawn Marion is clearly one of the stupidest player in the NBA. Wait - Shawn Kemp, who can't comprhend the concept of birth control, also deserves mention. But my vote goes to AC Green. That old and still a virgin? Sheeesh! ------------------
In the same subject I would have thout that Kevin garnet would be an idiot too. But listening to him speak the kid is pretty articulate, with good grammer. Now, knwoing that he did not go to college, didn't even have the SAT score to make to college. What does that say about the college education these other players have gotten? ------------------ HAKEEM... the best ever!
