Well Okay SPan maybe isin't better than Rafer but We need to use Rafer in a trade for a Power Forward
This is all Greek media's speculation. The logic is simply based on that Rockets got more guards last night, wishful thinking but understandable. Fran said? He is neither VSpan nor Morey, just like us.
Compadre, I have to retract my comment. It's no longer great news...Morey was just on the radio and he completely went Dubya on the question of V-span staying or leaving. If you can sit through another morey interview, the podcast should be up. I was going to post just the one minute session but my internet signal keeps on dying when loading
Well reporters can't write whatever they want just because they feel like it. That is the true purpose of media, to inform people based on facts and not assumptions... And i'm afraid to say this but, it's not Greek media's speculation..Greece is a tiny country and everything V-span does and says is spreading quickly and ends up in a newspaper column or a magazine... My guess: If Rox don't make a trade involving both Rafer and Luther soon, forget about V-Span...period. Panathinaikos just lost a good player from his roster (the Lithuanian Siskauskas) and they will probably try to grab Span and Fernandez.
Welcome to the BBS, I belive Rafer is gone and Span will backup Mike James. The problem is Mike James (and Rafer for that matter) is not getting any younger and Span is not a sure thing at all so while I disagree with the pick I like the thinking. JL3 will never be a quality rotation player on a good team IMO so if you roll with James/Span/Brooks you have one guy for now plus two young guys for the future with upside. Also if Brooks and Span develop into players than I could see a combo of James/Span or James/Brooks or Span/Brooks on the floor together at some point in the future.
I agree that VSpan is more talented than any of our other PGs right now, but he has to adjust to the NBA game, just like any other foreign player. The problem isn't with his talent, but his head. If he decides to be better, not bitter, to pursue excellence, not excuses, to be about team rather than me, to do the things that transition to the NBA, and improve his game, then he could be a great asset. We'll just have to see if he gets his head screwed on right. The worst thing that ever happened to him was playing a starring role in beating the USA in the World Championships, since it went to his head. I hope that was not his crowning moment in life. If he develops the right attitude, he'd be a great asset, and we'll love him for it. If not, we should trade him for someone who can be.
What do you mean "Went Dubya"? Do you mean non committal? That is how I read it, and I think it means RA doesn't like JL3 all that much. DD
read the handwriting on the wall folks: spanoulis ain't going to be tossing balls into the expensive seats at the TC much longer. He's moved on, so the Rockets have too.
Sam, If that is the case, then they should have traded him for a draft pick, or should trade him going forward to get something for their asset. DD
Spanoulis isn't a PG, why would he worry about drafting another one? Unless he's worried about losing his roster spot to Brad Newley.
He sets up the offense while turning the ball over very little and is a valuable piece on our team considering he might be the closest to a true point on this team. I think he will be more valuable playing between 20-30 minutes rather than 44 at the toughest position in the NBA. Look, I like Vspan and believe he will be a good player but you can't say his turnovers are nothing to be worried about. It is not "fans being fans". Some of his turnovers make him look atrocious and nothing like a seasoned international player should make. I don't think many people call a successful pass of his luck. I think he can be a good passer but WAY too risky at times. I am also a good passer with very good court vision but you have to be smart about knifing a pass. Splitting the defense with a bounce pass to Chuck Hayes is a pretty risky pass. When he has connected it I have been amazed of how sweet the pass was but it is the bad turnovers that outweigh the good. Another thing that scares me is that you would think he would have played more close to the vest when he played last year but he actually played more risky than anyone would have thought. I am hoping he was just trying to do to much to impress JVG and that is why he tried all of this.
Upps I didn't know that. I thought he is Shawn Kemp's twin We need him in the startin' five Yao VSpan Battier McGrady James How about that?
