But see... that's fundamentally true. I've never heard that story before now. I should check my spam.
My wife and I have informed our family for years that if they want to email us, anything with "FWD" anywhere in the the title, or any evidence of a forward in the body will not be read, but rather trashed and deleted. We don't get much mail from family.
Some of my fellow in my Government class today said that Obama would probably turn his back on America if he is elected, and that he is best friend's with terrorists. My school is a richy rich school in a DFW suburb, so it's no wonder why. When the white kid in my class insisted that Obama was friends with terrorists, I yell out "well, if he's friends with them, at least they won't bomb our asses anymore". It ended with that.
lol thats the same thing I do, if I see a Fwd:, into the trash it goes. When I was still new and idealistic on the internets, I used to research and send out debunking mails all the time in response to chain emails, now...aint got the time nor the inclination. I used to tell them that most of the emails like that they got were flatout false, but they still kept forwarding every one they got. I eventually just told them to take me off their distribution lists, the constant stream of crap was a waste of my time.
Of course Republicans can use e-mail better, because obama supporters are MUSLIM, and MUSLIMs only communicate by shadow puppet and LIES and TERROR. BTW, I read in an e-mail that obama is MUSLIM.
A Democrat appointed Thurgood Marshall to the USSC before Clarence Thomas. Also the first black Cabinet Secretary, Robert C. Weaver Secretary of HUD, was appointed by a Democrat.
ARGH! You beat me to it! I guess I'll have to focus on this bit of idiocy from F.D. instead: Umm... you do realize that "African-American" generally refers to descendants of black slaves and that the vast majority of those descendants have white ancestors?
Are you saying there are no racist Democrats? I'm not saying that I subscribe to the theory, but following this thread... it is not the Republicans who won't vote for Obama because he's black... but actually certain racist Democrats who won't. Republicans won't vote for him because he is Democrat and at the same time he'll also lose these other votes.
If you want a pretty accurate barometer of what side is sending out the highest number and most ridiculous e-mail rumors about the current presidential candidates, Snopes.com is a good source. It's not a political site that will immediately be dismissed by one side or the other, but merely a verifier of urban myths. I know the woman who runs the site, and she's always been very cautious to keep the site politically neutral and strive to do nothing more than investigate things e-mailed to her by fans of the site. So what does Snopes have to say about the Obama/McCain spam wars?
For McCain, the site lists 5 rumors -- 2 positive, 3 negative 1 positive, verified as true * facts about McCain's wife, Cindy 2 negative, verified as false * McCain declared during a 60 Minutes interview that he was a "war criminal" who "bombed innocent women and children" * because of his age, McCain would not be eligible to draw a pension after serving two terms as president 1 positive and 1 negative that have not yet been verified For Obama, the site lists 33 rumors -- 1 positive, 32 negative 1 positive, verified as true: * During the 1960's, Robert F. Kennedy said he believed a black man could become President of the United States within forty years 3 negative, verified as true: * photograph showing Obama without his hand over his heart while the U.S. national anthem is being played * insurance broker's sign saying "A taxpayer voting for Barack Obama is like a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders" * during an refurbishment of the Obama campaign jet, an American flag image was removed from the plane's tail 20 negative, verified as false: * is a "radical Muslim" who "will not recite the Pledge of Allegiance" * was sworn into office on the Quran * his church has a "non-negotiable commitment to Africa" that is covertly Muslim and excludes non-blacks * has been endorsed for President of the U.S. by the Ku Klux Klan * his presidential campaign is being funded by Hugo Chávez * he urged his supporters to join him in CHANGING "the greatest nation in the history of the world" * access to Michelle Obama's senior thesis has been restricted until after the 2008 presidential election * photograph shows Obama holding a telephone upside down * he would prefer the national anthem be replaced with "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing" * a Kenyan missionary who claims to know Obama's family says he's a Muslim and a racist * The Book of Revelation describes the anti-Christ as someone with characteristics matching those of Barack Obama * he does not qualify as a natural-born citizen of the U.S. because his mother was too young * he told a classroom of kids that every time he claps, a child in America dies from gun violence; kid in classroom told him, "Well, dumbass, stop clapping." * the bulk of donations to the Obama campaign come from a handful of wealthy foreign financiers * e-mail showing the negative tax effects if Obama becomes president * he has refused to make his birth certificate available for examination because it contains damaging information about him * Obama "blew off" U.S. soldiers during a July 2008 trip to Afghanistan * during an interview with the Wall Street Journal, he said, "a strong government hand is needed to assure that wealth is distributed more equitably" * hundreds of people with physical ailments have reported being healed by a touch from Obama * Native Americans dubbed Obama "Walking Eagle" 6 negative, verified as neither completely true or completely false * "racist" quotes taken from Obama's books * editorial criticizing anachronisms in his 2007 Selma speech * photograph showing Obama with various family members * editorial criticizing Obama's political stances * he once said he had visited "57 states" was actually referring to the 57 Islamic states * editorial from Bill Brown assessing Obama's political record and 3 negative that have not yet been verified Based on that non-scientific and non-political survey, it would seem that the anti-Obama spam machine is working much harder than the anti-McCain spam machine. Of course, if there's one thing both sides can agree on, it's that people are going to believe what they want to believe, regardless of evidence to the contrary.

The more I learn about the republicans, I ask myself, How could someone vote for bush twice and still vote for these guys?
Here's an anti-McCain spam email that was forwarded from a friend of mine. Apparently some comments by a McCain staffer is going to seriously cost them the nerd vote. [rquoter]D&D fans, Many players have written us about recent disparaging D&D references by a John McCain staffer, Michael Goldfarb. I want you to know that everyone at Wizards is offended and baffled by the ignorance. Obviously, this person harbors some retro prejudices and has no idea what D&D is about or who the fans really are. I thought you should know that my colleagues at Hasbro also take offense and sent a letter to Michael Goldfarb (copied below). Wizards will continue to promote D&D as the great heroic fantasy game that it is and we thank you for your continued support and encouragement. Greg Leeds President Wizards of the Coast August 28th, 2008 Michael Goldfarb 1235 S. Clark St, Suite M Arlington, VA 22202 Dear Mr. Goldfarb, I was disappointed to read the disparaging intent of your comments regarding Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) fans, both in your response to New York Times editors, and on the John McCain campaign website. Dungeons & Dragons is a global game with millions of consumers in the U.S. and abroad. The brand is owned by Wizards of the Coast, a subsidiary of Hasbro, Inc. For fans, the game is essentially about heroism and therefore it is not surprising to us that thousands of military personnel play and enjoy the game. Hasbro, in turn, supports the U.S. Armed Forces by sending multiple crates of game products, including Dungeons & Dragons, to our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. Recently a soldier who saw your comments online said, “Wizards of the Coast (the makers of D&D) has sent care packages to the troops on many occasions, providing free gaming supplies in support of our men and women serving the country overseas to help them decompress after hours. McCain's people should really check their facts before they spout off. Does John McCain have no idea how many GIs play D&D?” We would very much appreciate you not making any more condescending comments about D&D -- as it is a great game enjoyed by millions of people around the world. Thank you. Sincerely, Wayne Charness Senior Vice President Hasbro, Inc. [/rquoter]
you REALLY think someone from the GOP office sent out "coon" emails? i've seen a lot of anti-Palin stuff that i KNOW is not coming from some DEMOCRAT group. a lot of the over-the-top spams are actually sent just to create "guilt by association". eg - "someone sent a spam calling Obama a "coon"." "OMG. What a racist thing to say! AND they registered some domain name for 7 bucks which has the letters "GOP" in it!! They must be from the actual GOP. Anyone who voted for Bush is either stupid or racist. Probably both!!" "Yeah. I'm moving to Canada. This country is just garbage if my side doesn't win an election!"
no. actually spamming "coon" emails were not part of that deuchebag's campaign. and spamming "coon" emails are not part of any legitimate McCain group. such tactics only hurt him.
