Oh do tell dear Space Cadet, what Trump's Space Force will do beyond what the Air Force already does with Space Command?

    This should be good

Go back and watch the video from post #30.

Again, nobody is talking about weaponizing space but you.

Did you lose your brain? Are you that stupid?

The whole point of the military is to weaponize whatever theatre they operate in. If you aren't going to weaponize space, you might as well just call Space Force something like....oh I don't know, NASA?

    Again, go watch the video.

The point of the military is not to kill, rape and pillage. Its primary focus is to protect the assets of this country. The 'enemy' doesnt need to be brown skinned people from the middle east. It doesnt always have to be hostile.

But hey, what do I know. You're the smartest guy around here.

And what does the military use to protect? Let's see if you are smarter than a 5 year old.

I like visionary and bold Presidential moves.

I am not sure of the timing of it, and I find it interesting that a Republican is yet again expanding government. Still, as long as Trump doesn’t go off the deep end, I support it.

Let’s literally blow out tax dollars up into space. Sounds cool.

Would that we could get him to attach himself to the space debris.

huh? We already have a division in the Air Force doing this. Its not about whether we need a 'Space Force' or not. Its about whether Space Command should be its own branch.

Are you saying there is a deeper end than the one he already went off?

He isn’t jailing dissidents or suspending elections yet.... so yes he can get worse and it will be interesting to see how far he will go.

U.S. warns on Russia's new space weapons

The United States voiced deep suspicion on Tuesday over Russia’s pursuit of new space weapons, including a mobile laser system to destroy satellites in space, and the launch of a new inspector satellite which was acting in an “abnormal” way.

Russia’s pursuit of counterspace capabilities was “disturbing”, Yleem D.S. Poblete, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Arms Control, Verification and Compliance, told the U.N.’s Conference on Disarmament which is discussing a new treaty to prevent an arms race in outer space.

A Russian delegate at the conference dismissed Poblete’s remarks as unfounded and slanderous.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, at the Geneva forum in February, said a priority was to prevent an arms race in outer space, in line with Russia’s joint draft treaty with China presented a decade ago.

But Russian President Vladimir Putin unveiled in March “six new major offensive weapons systems”, including the Peresvet military mobile laser system, Poblete said.

“To the United States this is yet further proof that the Russian actions do not match their words,” she said.

Referring to a “space apparatus inspector”, whose deployment was announced by the Russian defense ministry last October, Poblete said: “The only certainty we have is that this system has been ‘placed in orbit’.”

She said its behavior on-orbit was inconsistent with anything seen before, including other Russian inspection satellite activities, adding: “We are concerned with what appears to be very abnormal behavior by a declared ‘space apparatus inspector’.”

Space force isn’t visionary. States have been dreaming of it for decade. Soviet even tried a military space station and failed. Good things no one has succeeded. We got enough problem on the ground. Extending that up there ... what could go wrong?

Much prefer the money spent on NASA or some other peaceful space program (that the military could still use as a tool). But if we are to have a military space force, we should have some capabilities for that agency to oversee. We got nothing new that’s compelling (other than what’s already under the Air Force). And if we are to develop new cool Star Wars stuff, let’s keep it under the hood.
