I went to the meeting last night, and the ONLY people that supported United were United employees. All the ordinary people supported Southwest. CO Bradford seems corrupt though.
i haven't found any news regarding the meeting. was there any press there? what was discussed? was it a Q&A?
Not sure if any press was there. Was just 2 hours of people going up and giving opinions. I think southwest and united employees should have been disqualified from speaking though.
United bused in a bunch of its people there. I think there were more united folks than southwest folks.
If this goes to vote (and it should) United doesn't stand a chance in hell. All Southwest has to do is wait until November.
i literally live underneath the path of the landing planes at Hobby and I'm all for expansion. I'm quite used to the noise actually. visitors are always amazed at how close the planes are above our heads.
CO Bradford is a politician, so I'm pretty sure he is corrupt. I'd like to see Southwest win this one. I see nothing wrong with a little competition.
http://mobile.chron.com/chron/db_271389/contentdetail.htm?contentguid=z8rVegWR Posting from my phone, so I can't easily post the article. Looks like this is moving to the next step, good news for the pro southwest/hobby people
Looks good for Hobby. This is going to make Hobby busier though which I will hate. I always fly through Hobby and I like it the way it is when it comes to the amount of people. Hopefully it won't become too bad.
The San Diego airport is literally in the middle of downtown. You feel like you are going to crash into the high rise buildings when you land. You are about 5 minutes from downtown and about 10 minutes from Pacific Beach.
southwest is not even cheap anymore. ever since they combined with air tran..their prices have gone up.
you're right they may not be AS cheap as they once were.... they're still relatively cheaper. just bought a ticket from hobby to pdx for mid june, $529.70 with 1 layover and just over 6 hr total flight time the other comps were - $460 12hr+ delta $528 8hr+ frontier a couple of $530 and on up with united... HAH!
Looks like its more or less a done deal. http://blog.chron.com/newswatch/2012/05/southwest-gets-ok-for-international-flights-at-hobby/
Fantastic, now we can get that high speed rail line in, since Southwest won't be lobbying against that, right? DD
This. It is absolutely pathetic that there isn't a train service or something similar connecting Hobby to IAH via Downtown.
