One of the worst episodes I've ever seen. I don't think I laughed even once. Spoiler They managed to throw in the brutal murder of celebrities again, a really tired schtick they keep doing for cheap laughs...yawn
the exorbitant amounts of vomit, especially on the today show, was funny. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=124052961
I find South Park just relying on potty humor way too much, it's almost like they're out of new ideas. Spoiler Pretty much the only funny part was when they made fun of Sarah Jessica Parker. I thought the whole murder of the Kardashian family was just unfunny and stupid, no matter how much you might dislike them. That part was there just for shock value and even the moral lesson of the episode was dumb and pointless. Overall, a very poor episode, in my opinion.
I didn't think it was that bad. There have been plenty of episodes much worse. The idea of the kids writing a book had potential. The entire Kardasian plot was stupid and typical of modern southpark. The book plot was actually decent, just not executed as well as they used to do it.
This weeks was way better than last weeks. I cried during the spit scene on Today (spitting out the vomit).
They are just trying to prove that people look too much into stuff and look for so much that isnt there. It makes fun of fake smart people and people that just go with whatever is hot at the time that is what i loved. Its like people trying to analyze poetry but the author meant something else. I laughed a lot but didnt think it was great. I liked it overall. You have to expect one of these every once in a while that is just random.
The delivery was meh but unoriginal? No. This episode featured the most of the kids actually moving the plot rather than being swept by it in recent years. Them writing the nasty book was the kind of stuff they always used to do - you know, like how it was in the days of old South Park when, after watching an episode, you could go up to your friend and tell them about it? The boys were like these nasty friends you brag to your other friends about. They just haven't been that recently.
There was a lot of potential with the book plot, but I felt that putting all of that on Butters was a total mistake. Overused character imo.
Was the book plot in reference to any current event? Banned book or false author or a crappy book getting too much credit? I thought the vomit spitting and Butter's book was funny, but nothing more than chuckle worthy.
I think was very clearly a stab at J.D. Salinger and people view his work. Like someone mentioned, I thought it was a solid idea but that execution was just horrible, probably the worse episode I've seen from them in a long time.
