sometimes the season openers can be duds, but this one was hilarious! cartman going off on obama had me in tears. i disagree - i think south park is as strong as ever. but yeah, the simpsons pretty much sucks now (as well as family guy and cleveland show). ... maybe there were some lame episodes in there, but 10-12 had some classics... return of chef make love not warcraft with apologies to jesse jackson - randy doing the spoken word thing about being a "n***** guy" is one of the greatest scenes in s.p. history! the dog whisperer cartman sucks - the pic of carman w/ butters penis in his mouth hare club for men (easter one) tourettes guitar hero "cheesing" on cat pee the historical reenactors get taken hostage ungroundable - goth kids vs. vampires
I thought that was a weak start for the season. The episode was funny, but it just didn't seem like a strong episode.
I grade the "topical" episodes on a harsher scale. They don't hold up well as time goes on. The Warcraft episode, despite, broke some new ground and was very creative... in addition to being funny as hell. 300 was forgettable IMO.

There is a lot more in NASCAR to poke fun about than just the same ol "stupid redneck" lines. Like many have said, this could have had a ton of potential, but it was poorly executed. And I am not just saying this because I am now officially down with NASCAR. Being a NASCAR nerd now, I couldn't help but point out that 1) Danica Patrick doesn't drive in the same races as Jr., JJ, Jeff Gordon and Kenseth. 2) Jr.'s sponsor isn't Bud anymore, it is the National Guard and AMP and Kenseth's sponsor isn't Dewalt, it is Crown Royal.
Episode was fantastic. Anytime you get Cartman and Butters together it's gold.
