Apparently, the beeps weren't a big joke. They were censorship by Comedy Central. Link Posted on: 04.22.10 A Statement from Matt and Trey "In the 14 years we've been doing South Park we have never done a show that we couldn't stand behind. We delivered our version of the show to Comedy Central and they made a determination to alter the episode. It wasn't some meta-joke on our part. Comedy Central added the bleeps. In fact, Kyle's customary final speech was about intimidation and fear. It didn't mention Muhammad at all but it got bleeped too. We'll be back next week with a whole new show about something completely different and we'll see what happens to it. "
well HBO shows some pretty extreme and controversial stuff.. but the potential audience base is dwindled by quite a lot since its a subscription channel.. perhaps they can also bring their stuff to the internet where it can be uncensored.. that last episode was lame by what COmedy Central did to it. Hopefully a uncensored version pops up on the net
If there was ever a show that could make the switch to purely internet based, sans-network/studio help, and still make money/be successful and keep quality up, it would be South Park.
I don't think the censorship was CC, seemed like a joke. They had the entire speech at the end bleeped out. Why not just cut it? In the cartoon wars episodes, which caused controversy, no audio was bleeped out. They also had Tom Cruise censored the same way after he stole the "goo." Seemed to be part of the episode.
I think it was a joke too. Muhammad has been in plenty of South Park episodes before this. It was a creative choice for sure imo.
So the "I learned something today" of the episode was an actual speech? That sucks, those are usually the only parts of an episode that can be morally enriching.
LMFAO seriously South Park is what stupid Americans watch in order to laugh at slightly stupider Americans
South Park does usually make some pretty good points about issues despite the absurd and over the top plots.
^^ that article lost credibility when it mentioned Mind of Mencia as groundbreaking...... It was the failed attempt at replacing the Chappelle Show.
I knew something was up when they didn't replay it at 11:00. They showed "Scrotie McBoogerballs" instead. I had to download a torrent to watch it. So Comedy Central isn't even going to re-air the censored version. I thought they might put the uncensored version up on the South Park Studios site but they just had a message saying the didn't have network approval to stream it. Additionally, the second season episode "Super Best Friends", when they actually showed Muhammad, has been pulled from the site as well.
Our DVR didn't record it and so I set it up to record the later one....but they aren't showing it anymore. This world is F'd up if they can't show something like that.
