UH didn't look like they had their heads in the game; short week, looking ahead. They almost blew it. Fortunately, South Florida made multiple mistakes and ultimately beat themselves. This White kid is going to be something though. The SF lineman are HUGE. OKorn is very efficient and the UH defense looks fairly decent in contrast to the Sumlin era. The next two games are the season. If they win them both they will likely be in the top twenty, on their way to a BCS bowl. If they win one, they are still in the mix for the conference title. In either case they will have to play much better than they did tonight. If they lose them both, they will still go to a bowl game. No matter what, 7-1 still feels pretty good at this point in the season.
Controversial, but the ref had a front row seat. The receiver clearly pushed off, but the UH defender had some "hand jive" going too. I think the ref only had the visual angle on the USF player. That's my take.
From where I was sitting it looked like it was a bad call, but I can't say for certain since they didn't show a replay in the stadium. I'm not gonna complain though since the end result is a win.
Generally not pretty, and yet we put up 35 going on 42 if no fumble, and win handily. Amazing how our standard has grown from the Keenum era. Think we are better than we think. We are just not as consistent as we were with Keenum. Yet, much better than we were with Piland out there. I like the helmets. But think black should be the secondary of third color on the uni's. Not the primary. Overall pretty happy with the win. Now for the big boys!
