South Carolina cop charged with murder in black man's death

this is the straw that broke joe camel's back. we need a national law requiring every LEO in federal or states to wear a body camera that can't be turned off.

how many cop vs person shootings were like this? where reports are BS "i saw some siht in suspects hands and had to shoot him", evidence planted and partners back your story up etc? either im too high or somethin but im paranoid about these police reports being doctored. those reports need video like this one. if you get pulled over set your phone to point at the window and take a video b.c it'll save your life or get justice when you get shot.

 

Be careful when you reach for your phone. The falsified police report will say reached for an AK-47.

 

it's a sad state of affairs where complying with cops will give you a "less likely" chance of being killed during a police interaction.

 

Everyone in that video was eerily calm for what just happened.

 

I don't believe so, because I always thought it was that way. I've never had these kinds of trouble either so I don't have to worry about it. I'm not white, I'm Asian and born in a small little hick town. I've done my share of stupid stuff in the past, but I always respected their jobs.

You have to understand that the job is stressful and filled with many dangers. I can respect that anything can happen and in many cases they do happen. I whole-heartedly agree that body cameras can be useful and can prevent some bad things from happening.

Just a very unfortunate incidence and hope it doesn't happen again.

The problem is that apparently it's not common sense or rather that too many people have no common sense. The cop obviously was wrong in this case and IMO should get the death penalty for it, but when you resist arrest you are not respecting or valuing your own life.

Basically in this case an idiot got himself killed and hopefully a bad cop will be off the streets forever.

Rubber bullets wouldn't have helped here. That is for riot/crowd control only.

The other problem is that the officer had a less than lethal option, his taser, and he refused to use it opting to murder the guy running away.

 

The officer used the taser prior to the victim running away, it was ineffective, and instead of running him down, he opted to kill him.

 

Or maybe the guy had a good reason for running away from a murderer? We wouldn't be giving someone **** for causing their own death if the guy they were running from didn't have a badge.

Sure, his "good reason" is because he didn't respect his life so he put it at risk in order to avoid a short trip to jail for being a deadbeat dad.

 

That may be what he said, but it sure seemed like his taser was holstered as he was shooting the man, I highly doubt he attempted to taser the man, holstered his taser, then drew his pistol. I didn't see any attempt to tase the man on the video and since the officer has already been caught lying about what happened, I can't trust his account. Tasers work.

Err. You can see the taser hit the ground beside the officer as the man begins to run away. The wires are still attached to the victim. That is what the video and witness accounts corroborate.

 

Police officers are held to a higher standard than civilians. So once you admit the police officer did something wrong (as you stated)... What the victim did is irrelevant. All you're doing is kicking a dead man while he's down.
