This post would work if Cleveland had any chance of keeping LeBron. It was either let him walk for nothing, or let him walk and collect assets that Bima posted. I think the second option was their best one. At least they have a chance at something.
Ive said it before and I'll say it again, the key to re-signing Melo is Chris Paul. We've got to make for Chris Paul. Extended Aaron Brooks, Kevin Martin, Jared Jeffries, Brad Miller for Chris Paul and Emeka Okafor. Then we trade Jordan Hill, Shane Battier, Yao Ming and picks for Carmelo and Al Harrington and maybe Birdman. PG: Chris Paul | Kyle Lowry | Ishmael Smith SG: Courtney Lee | Chase Budinger SF: Carmelo Anthony | Terrence Williams PF: Luis Scola | Al Harrington | Patrick Patterson C: Emeka Okafor | Chuck Hayes | Chris Andersen WCF, book it
I would like that...i think is possible...but I think getting melo then paul is the likely scenario...add draft picks and patterson to the deal u sent the nuggets and I think you are correct.
If you go out with a girl that tells you she is going to dump you, don't get upset when you spend a bunch of money on her, and then she dumps you.... And leaves you worse off.... That is Melo to Houston. DD
If you haven't gotten any for 15 straight years, and then you have a girl that is willing to put out for just one night, you giddy up and worry about the consequences later. Hey, maybe you get lucky and knock her up so she'll have to stay with you. That is Melo to Houston.
^this and get chris paul. getting cp3 will be easier with melo, keeping melo will be easier with cp3. its a catch 22 but either way we gotta make a strong play for one of them even if it means giving up picks and taking on bad contracts like those of Okafor, Harrington or Chris Andersen.
Rental of Carmelo doesn't make sense anymore. It did if Yao was healthy, without Yao being healthy, forgettabout it.

Plus, once every other girl in town finds out that you are taken, there gonna suddenly want you even more (Chris Paul)

That cant be true they will never get that unless they send thier whole team with Melo. Seems to me that they are going to price them selfs out of anything good for Melo. The deadline is going to get here and all the power they had will be gone and they will have to settle for far less than they have been offered to this point, otherwise get nothing for a All Star player headed to New York.
Not necessarily the best analogy. Melo is not the girlfriend that is telling you she will dump you; the first date hasn't taken place. Melo is the girl that says that she won't go out with you. But once you wear her down and she goes out with you, she has a great time and realizes she had the wrong first impression. We've all heard stories of couples married many years were the woman at first refused to go out with the man.
This is the moral of the story that I have been talking about forever. When you have a chance at a threesome, **** the consequences and go ALL IN. Go hard or go home.
I've always said Melo was going to NY with a slight chance he could make his way to NJ BUT with all the info coming out today, and really in the last few weeks, I am starting to get the feeling the Rox have a legitimate shot at renting Melo. I also would be intrigued to see IF we do acquire him, what else Morey has up his sleeve. I can't imagine he would simply HOPE Melo likes Houston and decides to stay, I could see another trade quietly being worked on IF Melo does come here.
Obviously, any draft picks traded would be conditional, with Anthony needing to play with the Rockets next season to fulfill it. The Rockets have so much contract flexibility and I could easily see them taking on a couple of the Nuggets, probably someone like Birdman, but preferably Nene. Also, while Harrington gets a bad rap, he is still better than any of our Bigmen aside from Brad Miller and as good as most of our SF. If Anthony will not extend before the end of the season, the Rockets are probably the only team that will give them anything for him (aside from the Knicks of course, who won't offer much). That alone gives us a lot of power.
