The following paragraph was just mentioned in an article written by Zach Lowe: Houston is chasing a win-now move, sources say, and may send out K.J. McDaniels as the sweetener. McDaniels doesn't play, mostly because of a busted jumper. Some team should take a shot on him at the right price. If there's a lesson of the last half-decade of NBA trades, it's this: When there's a rangy or athletic wing that has even a 10 percent chance of being decent, try to grab that player as a throw-in to a larger deal. Think about how teams landed Crowder, Middleton, Iman Shumpert, Will Barton, and even Tim Hardaway Jr. You cannot have enough versatile wings.
Can he just be ours?! Last I heard (2 days ago) J.O. is being floated around fairly heavily. Rumors had him already traded, but Philly is looking for picks/equal value in return. From my understanding, it's more likely that he's moved than Noel. With Embiid "hurt" again, they need a big guy to protect the rim. NN does that better than Jahlil. (It's a shame about J.Embiid...You can't help but like the kid and want him to succeed.) Despite his off-the-court issues, I don't think you can find equal talent for Okafor. He's a bit undersized, but when he gets the right coach, in the right system, his post-game will change a lot of people's opinions on his talent.
The Nuggets, for their part, are seeking a lottery-protected first-round pick and swap rights on another pick for Danilo Gallinari and Wilson Chandler, sources say. They want that No. 8 spot in the West, but they think they can get it even if they surrender one of those guys. http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...boston-celtics-latest-nba-trade-deadline-talk
Thanks for Lowe's take. Makes sense from what I'm hearing in terms of the Rox latching on with two teams to facilitate. Trading KJ by himself isn't as powerful as KJ mixed with names with stronger skills. Is he the "sweetener" of a deal? Interesting choice of words. I agree with Lowe about KJ's cracked jumper, but more than that, his enthusiasm as a teammate isn't what it used to be. It's understandable that he has a desire for minutes and consistent time. But, even if it's not "happening" for you personally, you still celebrate the success of your teammates and inspire them to press on through the disappointing moments. I mean, you don't forget the guys who played years before you...who paved the way for the young, raw talents waiting for their moment. You low-five your guards, and you most definitely jump up to lay the 5 in the air for your bigs. Always. That's not just my observation as I watch the games...you jump up for your bigs...
If I were Morey, I would offer everything Indiana wanted not named James or Eric for PG13. He is the perfect fit next to Harden but I just can't see him coming here with LAL and Boston having such better assets.
I wish I could. Birds have haunted me for the past 2 seasons! The New Orleans birds just got a lot better, but unless I'm mistaken, they're still busy. Watch for the trade to release a few from the cage.
I'd only include the first if Brewer were in the deal. Still prefer something like KJ and a 2nd for Sefolosha. Bud has shown some real skill in getting the most out of wings...perfect spot for KJ.
Win now move and KJ McDaniels should never be in the same sentence. Unless Larry Bird says fu** it and gives us George for KJ. Then for some reason Kosta and Collison are traded to us for Brewer, ham sandwich, and three Mike Bibby bobbleheads.
Agreed on both accounts. PG13 is perfect next to Harden. Capela, Dekker, Ariza, KJMD, Llull/Foreign rights and multiple picks is the best we could do and Lakers and Boston could blow that away if they wanted.
