I simply cannot see us trading with the Pelies. Facing Davis and Asik in our own division....for the next half a decade???? Nope nope nope.
I called it yesterday and posted that Daryl Morey sense of Urgency has to have gone up now that we have a 25 million dollar man sitting on the bench and getting zero minutes of playing time.
Millsap AND Hawes for Asik? Are you joking? We'd be lucky to get either one of the guys. I'd be ecstatic with just Hawes for Asik.
I don't think the rockets are in we fear Asik feeling. He is not a playmaker just a blue collar guy. But with the rockets you never know he might get two alley oop dunks and catch every bounce pass on the pick and roll.
Yeah that's an important point.... would Morey take a lesser package from an Eastern conference team because of this???... not sure, but you'd have to think its at caveat that is on the list of considerations. However in the end if the deal is right for your team and its pretty obvious how much better it will make your team.... you just got to ignore these factors... but I'm sure it a pretty big "preference" to deal out of conference & divisions.
Parsons can offer the same thing Ryan Anderson can do. Don't trade for him. We need a low post threat.
I like the fact that Dwight wants to get better but at the same time, its good for the team for him to know his limitations. By playoff time he should only be doing what he does well, not experimenting. I don't think its a good idea for Morey to be putting ideas in Dwight's head that his performance is mainly dependent on who his pf is. We want results not excuses.
^^^^ Dwight wants a new PG. Dwight wants a stretch four. Dwight wants this. Dwight wants that. Dwight told Morey that he could be an offensive force with a better PG. Dwight told Morey that he could be an offensive force with Anderson's spacing abilities. Dwight told Morey that he could be an offensive force with four other elite players around him. Dwight told Morey that he could be an offensive force with a better coach.
The Rockets aren't going to make the mistake Cuban did by tossing away two seasons just to have a small chance of landing a guy who realistically you never had a chance to get in the first place. Plus, Ryan Anderson can always be traded for an expiring. Morey might have to add an asset, but he's creates assets in his sleep. My concern with Anderson is that he's in a funk and has nagging health issues.
True, but Asik isn't a star, so I think it diminishes that concern some. Plus you don't have to face Anderson in your division any more which is worth something. It's too bad that Asik seems to be taking the "I'm going to try and force my way out" card. I don't really get why players do that. If you want out and the team isn't playing you, they are probably already looking to deal you regardless of what they say publicly. Putting them in a less favorable negotiating situation by making yourself less valuable to the Rockets only increases the difficulty of getting that trade done.
You do realize that Dan Fegan now is pretty much assistant Gm now for this team right? Dwight wants to win ASAP, Chandler Parsons needs to make bank on his next contract, and so Fegan will do everything in his power to broker deals for the Rockets. There is alot of money to be made in various ways if the Rockets win big. Wouldn't be surprised if most of the sources who leak out info this year come from Fegan's agency. They will probably be very, very involved in helping manufacture deals this year and moving forward. Obviously Les & Morey are the ones that ultimately have to sign off, but I would be willing to bet that in Dwight's meeting with Les and the rest of the Rockets, one of the biggest topics on the board was how the Rockets have the assets to make deals to really bring in some top talent around you, Harden, and Chandler. Sorry... that's part of the deal you make with the devil when you sign Dwight Howard and his entourage of business partners. However, its not such a bad thing here because Fegan might actually help get deals done here, and in the end I do think they care significantly about this team winning it all... its definitely in their best interest.
