Leaves them with a lot of options. Could use all of them, could move up in the draft to get an elite talent, could use a couple of them and young talent (Olynyk, Sullinger) to go get Kevin Love.
Yup, Ainge is a special GM, just like Morey. They are two of the five or six best GMs, as far as I'm concerned. To clarify though, the Celtics only have two in 2014 (their own and Brooklyn OR Atlanta). They own Philadelphia's but it's protected from 1-14 in 2014 and 2015. So, in other words, the 76ers have to make the playoffs this year or next for them to receive that first. Otherwise, it turns into a second rounder. Philly could definitely make the playoffs next year, but I doubt it happens this season.
cyber Is Morey simply "inquiring" about Rondo or he's aggressive in trying to get this done? And do you think he has a backup plan if it falls through?
True it was a bit odd when Brian Windhorst (now w/ ESPN) had such a huge in with the LeBron camp during the 2010 free agency bonanza and it was like every week Woj had some sort of hit piece out. Now I am sure most of what Woj said probably was based on fact but it painted James in a really bad light. Then with the Dwight saga i am guessing his sources sourced on him (from the Lakers side i would expect) so the pieces focused on how belittling Kobe was to Dwight (which probably was true - but did it need to be aired? probably not) I like Woj - more often than not when he just reports the deals its great and he only breaks when its probably going to happen - he also gives credit to others when they report it first - but I wouldnt doubt it for a minute if he didnt hold teams/GMs/agents somewhat 'hostage' for info. he can do that now considering his status in the NBA journalist world, 5-6 years ago when he was just coming up no way.
WHY NOT OFFER THIS YEARS 1ST RD PICK AND 2016 FUTURE 1ST RD PICK PLUS ASIK? OR IS BOSTON SET ON ACQUIRING BOTH THIS YEARS 2014 DRAFT FIRST RD PICKS?
such a redundant question. You know he has a back up to the back up to the back up probably to the 20th power.
And playing a team of all rookies and/or Sullinger and Olynyk will give them a great draft pick next year as well. With a few hits on those picks, they'll be sitting pretty in the East with youth and a solid coach. The one thing that would help the Celtics even more: Lebron moving to the West.
We don't know what he offered, he doesn't show everything at once, he is a mastermind. He lets the others know he is interested and backs off. He treats them like a pretty girl at the bar. Buys them a drink and let's them know where he is situated, he knows if they are interested they will come to him.
Its funny how we are all speculating and only deal that will probably go through is Ronnie Brewer for a conditional 2nd round pick...
We just have to agree to disagree. I think they are committed to Harden handling the ball and the current offensive system. They are not taking another route at this time.
What are the chances of Parsons being included in a Rondo deal? No good if Parsons goes. Drop off in talent between Rondo and Beverley is way smaller than the drop off between Parsons and any small forward in Houston
Depends on who they draft - LeBron IMO is going to be God-Like for the next 4 years and then after that probably be very damn good but will need to rely more on his 'help' than ever. Wade will be long gone by then and who knows about Bosh. The Celtics could be well on their way back to the top by then anyway.
I'm not so sure. Woj wasn't the only critic of the Lakers at the time. I got the feeling it was Jeanie & Dwight's people leaking stories. The Lakers as a dysfunctional team run by the idiot son is just an easy story to sell.
This is the biggest problem on this team and statistical analysis can prove this to be the case. Since James has to create for himself and for others, he has lost so much of his efficiency that he used to have in OKC. The Rockets FO isnt foolish. In order to maximize James, they have to be able to create for him in sets. Sure he will get his iso moments towards the end of games, and surely Dwight will get his touches in the post...but Rondo to Houston makes us favorites in the West. Im a fan of Lin, Parsons and Asik. They are really nice players to decent teams, but this is what the Houston Rockets fans desperately wanted about 2-3 years ago. We had our share of nice pieces. Players that were complimentary. What Morey has done up to this point has been nothing short of remarkable. And he has done it with a goal of title or bust. A Lineup of: Howard Jones Caspi Harden Rondo is a contending team. Infact, if Covington can be that SF, the Rockets have really won. If they can address the 4 spot as well with a Rondo trade(ie Bass), the Rockets would have no weakness in their starting 5. Period.
I feel with the play Casspi has shown so far, the drop off from Parsons to Casspi is much higher than from Rondo (coming off ACL) to Lin.
