Tom Haberstroh (ESPN NBA Insider) just now in a phone interview with SVP & Russillo just speculated on a possible trade scenario of Asik to Portland for Wesley Matthews. Personally I would take that trade in a heartbeat.
Perhaps has a lot to do with Horford being out injured. Horford in all star caliber player who used to attract double teams freeing up space for Teague to do his thing. Now defenses can focus on stopping Teague.
I guess this isn't cyberx's fault. All he stated was rockets have eyes on rondo. So yes rockets would like to get him. But this doesn't mean celtics have any interest in what we're looking to offer. There is no insider info saying Boston eyeing us as trade partners. Any of you guys realistically think we'd be able to get an all star and champion for our bench players and our weak future picks? No. Only way to get it done is including parsons and were not gonna tinker with our rotation that much at this point
Not even. We didn't draft Yao til June 2002. I joined before that. And I've been following Clutchfans since the 90s when it was Clutchcity.
I like to use the passing information from stats.nba.com to get points created/game and assist opportunities per game. Using this information, I can calculate points created/(assist opportunities + turnovers). Lin has a higher points created/(assist opportunity+turnover) than Teague and is creating higher percentage opportunities.
We are currently third in the west that speaks to the talent on this team. If we are not getting a player that pushes us into title talk a trade is not a necessity like in years past. Morey has even stated now he can be patient and add the right player for this team. All the names being mentioned Lowry, sova, millsap etc. do not do that for us. Rondo is the big fish morey wants to catch and if it doesn't happen nothing will happen. He's already on the stance to keep asik throughout his contract (until we can get the next piece to our puzzle). So it's either go big or go home with rondo other than that Lin will not be traded and for sure not asik for players like millsap Lowry sova Teague etc etc.
Lin (and $1,200,000 ) to the Schmucks Ilyasova and Asik (Da Turks) and Maybe Someone Else to Atlanta Millsap and Teague and Antic to Houston? Beats the heck out of me. In any case, lots of phone calls being made this time of year, lots of stuff being overheard. Daryl Morey: Bud Fox, I look at a hundred ideas a day. I choose one. Or, it chooses him.
I like Matthews but his game has already started to cool off in the second half of games already played this season.
I don't think Teague is really that good. Not as terrible as his stats in the recent months suggest, but likely below where Lin is. Teague is a really fast guy who can do some stuff off the dribble. But he is not exactly a magician with the dribble like the Chris Paul's of the world. Lin has the same issue but he is signficantly stronger and better at drawing fouls and has better court vision as far as I can tell. Teague reminds me of Darren Collison or maybe Aaron Brooks (minus the extreme shooting range). Right now, I'd rather have Lin both on skills/potential and on contract. Remember that the Rockets project to have 2015 cap room now if they do nothing. Teague's longer contract reduces the flexibility that the team has to pursue upcoming free agents via trade or signing. The "2015 cap room" situation may or may not lead to extra talent, but you don't give up that chance for Teague.
Sure, but conversely..we know what we get with Asik. And its not much. Plus if we can unload his contract, why not do it? For as much as Asik occasionally gives you on the defensive end, he's THRICE the liability on the offensive end of the floor.
You are saying Lin's jumpshot is better and it probably is, but you're ignoring the turnovers. Lin is at 2.7 per game. By comparison, Manu puts up very similar stats and only has 2.0 per game. That's a pretty big difference because the net effect doubles that difference. You take possessions from your team and give them to the other. That can often be a 4 to 6 point swing. And these numbers are coming from a guy that's not the primary ball handler. Teague has 3.1 turnovers per game, but he is the primary ball handler and gets a few more points and 2.7 more assists per game.
You are right about the Knicks needing a point guard. They may have the worst PG situation in the league.
So if Rockets get rid of Asik... Then they get that 1st rounder from Phili... Meaning they have TWO first rounders to trade... Maybe for Rondo?
