You don't watch basketball. No one that does would spout off this kind of ***** and think they were going to go unnoticed. From Wikipedia: Following the regular season, Rondo finished in the top five for the NBA Most Improved Player voting.[38] Rondo made his playoff debut on April 20, 2008 against the Atlanta Hawks and finished the game with 15 points, 9 assists and 2 steals. The Celtics closed out the series in seven games, went on to defeat Cleveland in the next round, and then defeated the Pistons in the Eastern Conference Finals. In the NBA Finals, facing the Los Angeles Lakers, Rondo recorded two strong performances, including a career-high 16 assists in Game 2. In Game 3, however, Rondo left the court in the third quarter after rolling his ankle.[39] The ankle injury was considered a "non-factor", and Rondo eventually made his return in Game 4.[40] In Game 6, the point guard posted a playoffs career-high 6 steals as the Celtics defeated the Lakers 4–2, giving Rondo his first NBA championship ring. After the game Lakers head coach Phil Jackson called Rondo the "star" of Game 6. In case thats not enough for you, bser, here's the stats: http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/r/rondora01/gamelog/2008/ He started every game despite rolling his ankle. He's a tough S.O.B. I wouldn't doubt him unless I hated the Rockets and/or whatever team he ends up playing for.... I hope it's us.
For everyone whining about giving up parsons for rondo, don't forget the playoff series in which Lebron had to check rondo because no one else could. If rondo would require that much defensive attention, what does that mean for Hardens game?
Even more than fit, the issue remains that Rajon Rondo is simply not that good a player. The idea that Morey of all people would trade multiple assets including Parsons for a player that sits at the lower end of the the top 10 PGs in the league - that is, inferior to Dragic and Lowry who Morey let go for varying reasons - is laughable. This is the problem with being influenced by name recognition and gaudy box score stats ("...should be shot") in tiny sample sizes.
We have no idea how high Morey is on Rondo, just because you think he's lower end of the top 10 doesn't mean Morey does.
Listen up LOaFers, this is how you post on Clutchfans. ^^^^ No one else on the team could take Rondo. A team with 3 other probable Hall of Famers with Garnett, Pierce and Ray Allen and they focused their best defender on Rondo. That's how good he is. Now imagine what Lin could do if teams doubled off him to check Rondo... See... it's beautiful to think about. Lin doing what Lin does best. Driving to the basket unopposed. Chandler was great, but he forgot to dance with who brung him. Now click on Garner's feedback button and hook that man up.
So what proof is there of Harden having a ego? Because i've never heard of him complain about anything...most people proof seems to be "Oh he takes a lot of shots and ISO! DOESN'T PASS LIN THE BALL!"
Not that any of this is happening, but for S&G... Lin, Parsons, two #1s for Rondo and Bass (or replace with Green) Asik and DMo for Hawes and Young. Rondo, Beverley Harden, Garcia, Covington Young, Casspi Jones, Bass Howard, Hawes, Smith Would need a better shooter in the SG and/or SF spot off the bench, but this would be a lineup that defends and is built for playoff basketball. And is young enough to do so for years. Plus, getting an offensive-minded SG or SF in an upcoming draft would be easier to accomplish with a second round pick than other positions.
I am with you, Lin and Asik, O.K., Parsons, no. Parsons is the "spirit" of this team, he adds more than numbers.
I can't believe those that wouldn't trade for Rondo. I'd trade anyone not name Howard/Harden for Rondo. He would make us so legit. I've watched numerous Celtics playoff games over the last few years and Rondo always shows up.
Will Brad Stevens remain Boston's coach? This is his first NBA coaching job. What does the Boston management think of his coaching so far? Just a question. Who said that Boston wants to trade Rondo. He is an allstar that one can build a team around and he might draw other allstars.
We know the type of things Morey feels are important, see: Shane Battier. We know he said the person who created the box score should be shot. While Rondo's assist stats are impressive, we've seen that it doesn't lead to good offenses like those of CP3, Nash, and healthy DWill despite being surrounded by multiple all-star talents. Rajon Rondo is an inferior offensive player who plays at a position (lead guard) in which offense is the primary duty. He can pass, but so can Vasquez. Unfortunately, he can't shoot and he doesn't attack the basket because he is afraid to go to the line where, again, he is a poor shooter. This renders him one-dimensional and stagnates the offense. Go back and watch the 2010 Finals with the Lakers. Kobe isn't guarding Rondo because he is a star; he's laying 5 feet off of him on every possession because he's not a non-threat offensively. He puts no pressure on the defense, and thus ironically doesn't "make his teammates better" to nearly the same degree as low IQ players like Russell Westbrook. Chandler Parsons, for instance, isn't nearly the ballhandler that Rondo is and really can't create his offense at all. He makes this up by being one of the best off-ball players in the league with his shooting and slashing skills. Rondo can neither shoot nor slash and therefore isn't capable of being an off-ball guard. We have a lead guard. His name is James Harden and he's much better at it - creating superior offensive opportunities for himself and teammates - than Rondo is.

If we want to win a championship, we have to have a player like Rondo on our team. A player who plays big in big games. A player who can take over games on both sides of the ball and literally will his team to victory. A leader and an "enforcer". At full health he can take the opposing team's best backcourt player out of the game. We are too soft right now. Rondo can give our team the hard-nosed identity we need to beat teams into submission. If I have any concern at all, it's limited to questions about how well he healed from the ACL. I'm assuming it's a non-issue.
I thought Ainge has come out and committed to him long term. So, if they do make a switch, Ainge will likely be gone too. Ainge can't keep face and reputation and do his job if the NBA thinks he can't be depended on. He's not a politician, he's a business man. That being said, I could be wrong. I remember hearing that Stevens only left his badarse job because he had security in the bigs. Update: Stevens has a 6 year, 22 million dollar deal. Say it or don't say it, the contract says it for us: it's commitment.
This "play big in big games" meme is a myth. Rondo plays exactly the same in the playoffs as he does in the regular season. He just plays more minutes and shoots a bit more (with less efficiency). Don't be fooled by small sample sizes; look at the whole.
On Rondo being considered for a trade. Read the ESPN article that was published today. Written by Fosberg. Rondo is the guy Boston will rebuild around. Sounds very logical.
This wins... Spoiler <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/UioCvLN-370" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
