I'm not surprised by Morey targeting Rondo- has there been any star player on the market in the past couple of years that he wasn't mentioned in the rumors for? But please, please, please say this isn't true!
I like Rondo as a player for his leadership, toughness, and defense. Reasons I hate Rondo on our team: 1) He's is a HORRIBLE scorer (we need more scoring) 2) He's a HORRIBLE free throw shooter (so in the playoffs that's 3/5 of our starters that are pathetic in that category). 3) He always has to have the ball in his hands (where does that leave Harden?) Summary = Good player, bad fit for this team. Just my $.02
Any deal for Rondo would likely include Beverly going out. Asik, Beverly, DMO, some picks? Is that enough for Danny Ainge to make a deal?
Why are you so upset my dude, would you be happy with this RUMORED trade if Parsons was not included?
We could replace the loss of Parsons' prettiness and somewhat balance out Rondo's mean-looking, only-a-mother-could-love mug by trading a 2nd for Meyers Leonard.
If you don't enjoy it why are you constantly in this thread to prove your point? You're not a fan of this thread but yet still check up on it.....
Since jtr mentioned xRAPM and people have talked about "advanced stats," lets note this: Rondo's xRAPM for 2010-11 and 2011-12 were quite good, +3.3 and +3.6, which would put him among the top 30 of NBA players as measured by this stat. His number for 2012-13 (pre-injury) was significantly worse. http://stats-for-the-nba.appspot.com/ Not that it's the be all end all of all stats, but there is at least one "advance stat" that say Rondo is pretty good. Now, top 30 isn't top 10, and we are talking about numbers for 2 years ago. So, my guess is that if Morey's valuation of Rondo is something like this, he'd make a good offer for Rondo, but not a "Godfather offer." Compare this to the Harden trade: Harden was much younger, and at least xRAPM said he was better. He also didn't have a major injury. So, I wouldn't think that Morey would give up as much for Rondo as he did for Harden-- and even Morey's offer for Harden had limits as he reportedly declined to include an extra 1st round pick and Parsons into the deal.
Classic Morey misdirection, tell people we want a PG, but trade to get a stretch 4. Wait and see, Lin, AB and Bev will be the only PGs on the roster post trade deadline.
Swap PBev with Lin and I think it's more acceptable for Boston. There's only one ball to share anyway...
If the Rondo trade happens, this would be the likely scenario for us --- we keep Parsons and get Rondo. But, is it enough for Boston to take it?
you would be correct. Spears from Yahoo reported that the Kings deal was killed because Rondo wouldn't resign.
