Well, the question is what they do with him if they get a third star... his new contract could be too difficult to work in at that point. So willing to trade him if they get a third star is a reaonable interpretation, rather than just willing to trade him.
Parsons would be a classic buy low/sell high move, but I would prefer to trade him next year instead since we'd have him cheap again. Rondo can't shoot from the outside, but two of our huge weaknesses right now is perimeter defense and turnovers. Rondo clearly addresses both. Kevin Love is still who I want more than anything. A stretch 4 like him is such an incredible fit next to Dwight/Harden.
If Morey actually trades Parsons away for someone not named Kevin Love, I don't even know what to say. You have the ultimate Glue-guy who complements Harden and Howard in the best way. The rockets like to have flexibility, but always trade away players they feel they will "Overpay" for. Then they end up overpaying for mediocre players. For as good a GM as he is I doubt he would do something like this, but if he does then the entire FO will lose me for not willing to pay for a contending team. It would be a cost cutting move more than anything than the acquisition of Rondo.
He did predict that the Rockets would hire a new strength coach. WOWEEEE! Oh. Wait. Never anything of consequence? Sorry. My bad.
Rajon Rondo is coming off a major injury. If the Rockets deal for him, they're giving up on this season.
Exactly. I like rondo's game but he is not the right player for this team. Plus, he likes to pad his assists stats. He's a selfishly unselfish player if that makes any sense.
Thanks Cybrex for the info. I honestly don't see Morey moving Parsons unless its a much bigger deal than just Rondo. Maybe Morey just threw his name out there to get Boston's attention/bring them to table.
What is with the mind set that you keep flipping players for value? You are not building a basketball team at that point, you are compiling assets and collective cards. The whole is greater than the sum of the parts. I won't continue to express my outrage because like I said, this would be a TERRIBLE move by Morey and I doubt he would do it .
You don't believe him. We get it. No need to keep condescending to those of us who are interested in the discussion.
Biggest issue: Rondo is hardheaded and stubborn. Not easily coached by Doc Rivers who seamlessly works with Paul. Could be a problem next to Harden since both tend to ball hog.
The only way I could see the Rockets trading for Rondo is if it was a 3 team deal and they were going to flip him to a 3rd team for a legit superstar that fit with the team.
Maybe something along the lines of Rockets IN: Rondo, Bass, +Filler from BOS Suns IN: Asik Celtics IN: Okafor, Lin, Jones, Dmo, 1st round pick via Suns
