What confuses me is that cyberx said the other day that Boston was getting "giddy" when they found out Houston is dangling Parsons. Stein says Houston will not get rid of Chandler and cyber then says Parsons is a 'back pocket' asset, implying that he's an absolute last resort and Boston doesn't know he can be had yet. I'm not denying anything cyber said, just a little clarification would be nice.
I don't think it's delusional. Parsons is solid but I wouldn't really care too much about getting Lin/Asik. If I were Celtics I'd want more for Rondo too.
I'm pretty sure trade exceptions can't be combined. What complicated it is that Deng can ONLY be traded in one for one deals (draft picks can be included tho).
Yeah, if CP had to go, I would say no to any trades and ride it out with what we have for the rest of the season.
The silence of Rondo's agent concerning a potential Houston destination is deafening. He shot down resigning with other suitors fairly quickly.
Hey cyberx....who are the other teams who could realistically trade for Rondo? It would seem to be an extremely limited market since Rondo won't resign with a lot of teams.
Back pocket means that we are considering it, but probably as close to a last resort. That doesn't go against what he said. Dangling does not mean offering. Could be baiting as well or just probing options.
tbh, the rockets will probably make a accusation aside from the rondo trade that will bring a perimeter player. gonna assume it involves brewer or canaan
As CyberX and stein have said, both teams are keeping their cards to their chest, not offering their best offer now with just under 23 hours to go
Parsons isn't a 3rd star. But I'm not sure we need a 3rd star as much as we need a deeper bench and more solid starters. Indy can beat the Heat. SAS wasn't 3 stars deep and yet they always contend though they are getting older. OKC doesn't have 3 studs but they've got a couple and some great role players. Now the Lakers were 3 stars deep last year...maybe 4. Did I miss their parade? You haven't even given this team 3 months and you want to blow the core up. Teams never succeed doing that.
He's gotta be pushing for a Houston trade. Now is the time for a deal to happen too, from Ainge's perspective.
That doesn't mean they will not trade Parsons. If I'm Morey, of course I dont want to trade CP away. But if he's the piece that can bring you Deng/Rondo you certainly have to ponder it. I'm with you though, I would hate to see Parsons go. He's a "glue guy" , and the chemistry he adds to the team is great. We saw how poorly we played when he was out. Not to discredit Rondo/Deng, but damn it would suck to see CP25 not in Rocket Red. I would prefer Asik/Lin/Pick for Rondo and hold on to Parsons.
just got the notification on my phone saying rockets want rondo but boston wants parsons. smh. just take lin and be happy!
Rondo's value isn't even at an all-time low...the guy just came back from a torn ACL and has almost had four TRIPLE-DOUBLES already. 15 pts, 12 asts, 8 rebs vs. Dallas 8 pts, 11 asts, 9 rebs vs. Philly 19 pts, 10 asts, 6 rebs vs. Orlando 13 pts, 8 asts, 8 rebs vs. Brooklyn Just wait until he's completely healthy 2-4 weeks from now. He's getting his game back quickly.
