No way Parson's goes. He's the glue guy who does all the little things that makes our team better. On top of that he was a huge part of Dwight coming here. Harden, Howard and Parson's are the core... they aren't going anywhere.
Would rather keep the team as-is. I have looked at Rondo's stats and unless there is some type of "intangible" aspect to things that he brings, I don't see how he would be an appreciable upgrade.
Read the first page. Skipped to the last page. Morey willing to throw in Parsons? Wow. The thing is, let's be real. The Celtics aren't going to trade Rondo for a Lin + Asik + filler and first rounders in the 20's. It makes sense for Morey to dangle Parsons. As good as Parsons is, we've seen Morey draft or pick up players, then trade them/let them go before their pay day. Makes sense to dangle Parsons.
I'm not trying to over value Parsons, but it would be hard to let him go unless Morey is sure Rondo is the third guy we need. We aren't going to fit Howard/Harden/Rondo + new contract for Parsons under the cap so Morey has to be sure Rondo is the guy. Parsons is a winner. Type of player you hate to let go because you know he will be successful anywhere he goes. Like Dragic or Lowry type player. The West is full of some many great point guards; Paul, Parker, Westbrook, Dragic, Curry, and Lillard. The combo of Bev and Lin just aren't going to cut it most nights so adding a point guard on the level of those guys will help and probably put us as favorites against anyone in the West. If Parsons goes, we're going to need a stop gap at the 3 though. I really don't like Green as an option.
Really? You guys are ok giving up Parsons? Without really knowing who all the Rockets would get in this trade, who in the hell do the Rockets have to replace Parsons with? Do we really want to give Garcia major playing time? His best attribute is shooting 3s and until recently, he's been terrible all season.
And if Rondo isn't the guy, his contract expires at the same time that Love and Aldridge hit the market.
The only thing I don't understand about this is that Rondo cannot shoot 3's. In that starting line-up, only Harden and Parsons would be able to hit 3's. For a team that relies so heavily on the 3, I'm not sure what would happen. But, Rondo is shooting 37% this year from 3. He's already made the 4th most 3's of his career this season and he's only played 10 games. WTF?
And then after post-season failures Harden and Howard leave for greener pastures. We lose Parsons, Rondo, Harden, Howard. Too big of a risk.
thats exactly what morey does.... gets a 2nd rounder to play better than expected.. then ships him off for the next 1st round pick he will use in another trade
If you can objectively take your Rocket goggles off for a moment, who brings more value to the rockets in making Howard, Harden, Jones ect. better and fresher for the playoffs between Parsons and Rondo?
