The Knicks want Lin (According to the other thread) so what about this deal? NY trades: Iman Shumpert, Tim Hardaway Jr. NY receives: Jeremy Lin, Donatas Motiejunas HOU trades: Jeremy Lin, Omer Asik, Donatas Motiejunas, picks HOU receives: Rajon Rondo, Brandon Bass BOS trades: Rajon Rondo, Brandon Bass BOS receives: Omer Asik, Iman Shumpert, Tim Hardaway Jr., picks I'm not sure it works in the trade machine, but it helps out all involved no?
Well if its a 3 team deal, we don't HAVE to give them anybody else with Lin to make it work finacially, because Philly would be taking Asik's contract without returning anybody (which they can because they have 10 mill in cap space). We'd actually be saving 4 mill in a deal like that. Although, most likely yes Boston would probably want one or two of Beverley, Jones or Motiejunas with Lin.
Do you honestly think rondo will be back to 100% this season? History tells us it usually takes about a year or two to regain old form. Or he can have a major setback like Westbrook or d.rose. Or he may never be the same again...9
Or he could help lead us to the WCF this year and perhaps upset Oklahoma City, a team we have no shot at defeating as currently constructed. We have to play HARD BALL sometimes in order to make it to the promised land. The road is NEVER easy and feelings will certainly be hurt along the way, but we don't get there playing it safe. Morey is a wild cat. He's gonna throw all his eggs in one basket because a team lead by Rajon Rondo, James Harden and Dwight Howard can be RIDICULOUS if they begin to gel. FK it! I'm all in!
Maybe Morey is talking with Ainge regarding the parameters for a potential summer trade. Morey has said repeatedly that major trades take a long time to come to fruition.
I think these talks probably started in the Summer, after Dwight. DM is always looking for a way to improve the team.
We have 5 second RD picks we can trade New York 2014 2nd New York 2015 2nd Hou 2015 2nd Minnesota 2015 2nd Portland 2017 2nd Then we have our own 2014 and 2015 1st RD picks, so we have a lot to offer. On top of all that, there is the possibilty of trading Asik for another 1st RD pick, along with trading small rotational players we have (Brooks, Motiejunas, Casspi) for more 2nd RD picks. Package all of that, along with Lin, Jones and i think we have a pretty good offer for Rondo.
we cannot offer first rd picks from consecutive seasons unfortunately. ainge is adamant in wanting 2 1sts
If the deal is involving Lin and/or Asik than its highly unlikely. Even the deep pockets there in Boston understand the balloon payment, and the time/cost benefits of acquiring their contracts sooner rather than later. The Celtics franchise fortune isn't changing between now and June before the draft, and the Rockets franchise fortune isn't changing between now and June unless they win it all with Lin and Bev at PG. There is no benefit of waiting till the Summer. If anything there is discouragement to wait any longer than needed.
The Rockets could theoretically offer a first rounder every other year, but cannot trade consecutive first rounders. So you could offer a 2014, 2016, and 2018.... However, my gut tells me that Ainge is actually going to be more interested in getting picks in Houstons 2016 through 2018 range with VERY LOW protection. Boston knows Houston is going to be good for a few years, and pick protection (or lack thereof) means diddly. If (As rumored) Ainge & Morey are really haggling over pick protection, that tells me one thing.... Ainge is looking for intrigue and future value with future picks beyond next year and maybe later. As for the 2nd rounders Houston owns that they can trade other than their own- 2014 second round draft pick from New York New York's 2014 2nd round pick to Houston [Houston-New York, 7/11/2012] 2014 second round draft pick from Philadelphia Philadelphia's 2014 2nd round pick to Houston protected for selections 31-55 (if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then Philadelphia's obligation to Houston will be extinguished) [Houston-Philadelphia, 7/13/2013] 2015 second round draft pick from L.A. Clippers L.A. Clippers' 2015 2nd round pick to Houston (via Toronto) protected for selections 31-50 and 56-60 (if this pick falls within either of its protected ranges and is therefore not conveyed, then the L.A. Clippers' obligation to Houston will be extinguished) [L.A. Clippers-Toronto, 1/7/2009 and then Houston-Toronto, 7/28/2010] 2015 second round draft pick from New York New York's 2015 2nd round pick to Houston [Houston-New York, 7/11/2012] 2015 second round draft pick from Minnesota Minnesota will convey the less favorable of its 2015 2nd round pick and Denver's 2015 2nd round pick to Houston (via Portland) [Denver-Minnesota-New York, 2/22/2011 and then Minnesota-Portland, 6/27/2011 and then Houston-Portland, 7/10/2013] 2017 second round draft pick from Portland Portland's 2017 2nd round pick to Houston [Houston-Portland, 7/10/2013] The 2014 Knicks pick being a very valuable trade asset which in Boston's case, might actually have higher value this year than the Rockets 1st rounder (if they plan on using the pick on an actual players) due to benefits of the contract that player will sign, and the low difference in player talent at that level of the draft.
Wow, the thread was created yesterday 5:27PM, there are already 2000+ posts by now, -_____- what is this? Rondomare? I like the enthusiasm from our Rockets fans lol
Yes, thanks for informing me about the first RD pick situation. As for the clips and Philly's second RD picks i wouldn't really count them as they are very unlikely to be attained, well, actually aren't the clippers right in the un-protected zone right now? So actually yes maybe's clippers 2nd as well, Philly's has no chance though lol
kind of obvious no? three team deal that sends those guys here for bev, gregsmith and a 2nd round pick in 3013 championship or bust
