Ears and Gut: We want Jimmy, but it's too complicated. But...there are pieces on teams involved in the "proposed deal" with players we desire. Miami is important for: 1. Butler's choosing 2. FreeBirds who wants out (Hassan, JJ, TJ, and yes, GD) (JJ was almost our Mason...still?) 3. Minny has some interesting pieces that work, too, who also want out (The Mahal, Tyus) ***Dieng is a non-negotiable. His contract needs to be moved if a team wants Jimmy. 4. The WEAK Boy from The 6 wants out and Minny wants a taker 5. KAT is the cornerstone now Earbud says Minny would take on "parts" and picks" for Jimmy among said teams. This is one scenario my guy Jordi" Ferndaddy "brought to my attention He says we're forgetting the power of the Clips and WashedUp Bullets and a desperate Memphis Org. Welp..Big Gulps... I'm out of my element with Jimmy. I don't have many friends in Minny....but I am confident that Tyus will be included out of respect/need. (Morey likes this guy, too) I think I'm done. I just want Jimmy to find his next team. If it's Houston, great. But, don't gut much for a rental without promises. Stay away from my Ne. PS....never underestimate LeBron. He can convice anyone to do anything. Jimmy could rock yellow while Zo, Ingram/Kuzma are sent to the frigid hell of the twin cities....stranger things #joynerLuCaS XO
Well the list never actually was just those three teams. It said he would be willing to open the list to other team in the Woj report that came out an hour after the headline did. Which is why I made a counter programming thread that pointed this out.
From the Wizard's Subreddit If this deal were offered, Minny should absolutely take it. I wonder what they offered though if not this.
Correct, but the reason those three teams were identified specifically on September 19 (and the "potentially open list to" teams were not) is because listing teams with July 2019 cap room made the most sense to start negotiations.
Man if Memphis is going to trade Jaren for Butler...that would be shocking. Washington might be an interesting partner...i guess, but i just don't see Butler staying there after one season with Wall, Dwight, Rivers...same thing for Gibson fwiw.
Checks out on trade machine. Minny in: Bev, Gordon, NeNe, Hou1st, Phx2nd, rights to gentile, rights to llull Minny out: Butler, Teague, Tyus Outlook: shed roughly 20m on salary. Get a couple of good "win-now" players while adding some decent financial flexibility going forward. And a couple OK assets. Phoenix out: Daniels, future 2nd Phoenix in: Teague Outlook: Get the starting caliber PG they are after at a pretty cheap cost. Adds salary but allows them to be more competitive and not a bad contract by any means. Still pretty flexible going forward. Clippers out: Bev Clippers in: Daniels, Tyus, Hou2nd Outlook: Send out bev for a flier on Tyus and gaining a minimal asset out of it as well. Houston out: Gordon, NeNe, 1st, 2nd, rights to gentile and llull. Houston in: Butler Outlook: Swap Gordon for butler, obviously, and go all in. #Creative
I don't even think it was that. I think that they just pushed the three big market teams so ESPN could get it's crop of clicks. Woj's reporting has really tilted this way ever since he joined there..
What can I say, I’m flattered that you think I was being sarcastic. I had just got off the phone with a guy I know pretty high up in the know and posted what I heard. Seems to me like you’re defending your theories quite a bit in here. I’m not one to clap back much since I enjoy your podcast but to just assume I went after you, well I guess all I can say is thanks for the mention. It seems like my satire struck a nerve.
Eh. It's not impossible, but Woj is usually excellent. I think it's more that Woj gets his info directly from agents (i.e. guys who play the leverage game), whereas a more localized reporter like Fusaro has a different "source" network.
I went to jr high and high school with Jimmy (and Chris Herrmann who clinched the division for the stros last night!), don’t have any connection with him but guy in my fantasy league (since 06) who claims to still talk to him or his crew said Jimmy hates Houston. Maybe he’s bullshtting but just FYI.
I think the "Houston" hates is and has always been overblown. If you knew of his upbringing and childhood, it's easy to recognize Houston as a very dark time and place. He had a pretty rough life until he got out of Houston and finally latched on with a friends family in Tomball. Dont know him for shiit really, used to ball with him at spring creek park and I still see his family at my nephews and nieces youth sporting events at local parks.
I don't doubt that Woj gets good info from primary sources, it is how that information is then filtered and disseminated through ESPN channels. Ever since the draft night fracas where Woj spontaneously gained comedic charisma before going right back to his normal demeanor after the final selection I've been skeptical that someone tweets for him now. Today on the LeBatard Show, Dan said that (paraphrased) "corporate finally decided to send down one of their 'social media experts' for us and he managed to tweet out 'Aaron Donald is a beast!', from my account; he obviously doesn't get our show". Somewhere along the chain, an editor or social media person is now filtering or at least approving Woj's tweets in my estimation. It is a massive corporation that paid him alot to be there, this isn't all that surprising of a prospective policy.
