offer up EG and 3 1sts for Butler before the Wolves trade him to some other team and we’re stuck with aging CP3, Harden, and a bunch of role players

Butler is probably our best shot at a 3rd star...get this done

Yup. A lot of dumb luck because other dumb teams like Knicks and Twolves.

    THINK ABOUT THIS.

Warriors offered the COACH job to Stan Van Gundy. Van Gundy said no, went to Piston and gets fired.

Then Knicks lowball Kerr, so Kerr said, okay, I'll take that Warriors job because Phil Jackson told me Dolan is lowballing me.

    TALK ABOUT ALL LUCK!!!

The WARRIORS RUN is full of Luck and what if other teams didn't make dumb decisions

    https://www.si.com/nba/2018/05/07/stan-van-gundy-pistons-warriors-head-coaching-what-if

Stan Van Gundy could be coaching the Warriors right now. This is one of the great what-ifs of modern NBA history, a domino that was about to fall but didn’t. Four years ago, Van Gundy was the favorite for the Warriors job when he pulled out of the running. He went to Detroit for full control. Steve Kerr went to Golden State to play with the best toys in the basketball world. The beauty of this what-if is that it only involves one domino: If Van Gundy had desperately wanted the Warriors job, he probably would have gotten it, and he would have coached a team ready for title contention.

Imagine the last four years: Van Gundy winning championships in the Bay, and endearing himself to Northern California with his anti-Trump views; Kerr working for his old coach, Phil Jackson, with the Knicks, trying to remain likeable with an unlikeable franchise; and Pat Riley having to watch LeBron James and Stan Van Gundy battle in the NBA Finals every year. Instead, Van Gundy took the Pistons job, and Monday he ended up where he always ends up: fired, with his reputation as a terrific pure coach intact.

So given the impending Wizards implosion.. would they be willing to take on Gordon, Chriss and a couple 1sts from Houston for Beal to go to the Wolves with another 1st for Butler??

I said that in a real convoluted way..

    Houston In:
    Butler
    Houston out:
Gordon, Chriss, 2019, 2021 and 2023 first round picks

    Wolves in:
    Bradley Beal, Houston 2019 pick
    Wolves out:
    Butler

    Wizards in:
Gordon, Chriss, Houston 2021 and 2023 first round picks
    Wizards out:
    Beal

Is this a stupid trade? (At least it's one less pick we give up, so...) Gordon is obviously a downgrade from Beal but the picks should help of Washington really decide to blow it up down the road. Wiz getting rid of Wall would probably be preferable but Beals contract is FAR easier to move.
Wiz could cut us out and go for Butler but there has been no indication that Butler would potentially sign on to stay in Washington.

I'm beginning to think that @BackdoorHarden isn't the world's biggest Golden State fan.

    Just a hunch.

I see a lot of these trade ideas where if we are offering this much for Butler lets go for Davis. I can assure you Davis is going to Boston. No one can compete with their assets and they saved them for a reason. Those are going to be used to rebuild the Pelicans. This is why we are so hard after Butler. If we offered Capela and 4 #1s we would get turned down and outbid by Boston.

I'm thinking Davis will net something like a Tatum/Brown or an Ingram/Ball. Much more enticing than Capela.

The thing is morey believes he has given his best offer Minny hasn’t responded to that offer yet because they prefer not to deal Jimmy to Houston. Believe they think they can compete in the West. Minny is waiting for another team which will never come to give in a better deal than Houston. I feel like the deadline to trade Jimmy for Minny is December 15th. If he isn’t moved till then Minny will be forced to deal him to Houston because that is the best package. moreys not really worried Bc his philosophy has always been I need my best team come March. All Morey is looking to do is Add Butler, maybe a Korver and. C off buyout market and he will have a team ready to compete with GSW come May

Celtics wont trade Tatum. Pretty much any other combination they would but would be hell bent on partnering Tatum with Davis

The thought is they won't trade him this season but would in the offseason because he has an option so really next year is his last year. I don't believe they trade him this year either but if the Pelicans lose ground before the deadline there is some thought he might be available. Again, I don't see it. His name is brought up because he is the next obvious target that is likely to move outside of the Wizard's dumpster fire.

Nah, he's a loyalist and wouldn't take JVG's job. They were very close. But, he could remain pissed Les fired JVG.

fwiw: he became a prominent HC candidate later, because he won a title in 2008 with Boston as defensive coach (a year after leaving Rockets), so that was probably the best thing that could have happened to him. Even a curmudgeon like Thibs should recognize his big paydays were due to latching on to the Celtics train at the right time.
