From Pincus https://bleacherreport.com/articles...ma-end-execs-hint-at-a-kawhiderozan-type-swap "Houston has reportedly discussed sending four first-round picks to Minnesota for Butler, but several NBA executives question if that's accurate. Certainly, if Gordon were included, the Rockets wouldn't be sending four unprotected picks to Minnesota.."
"Seriously? Thibosota took that offer over ours?!" "Jimmy is overrated anyways." "We didn't want Jimmy anyways." "Jimmy is nice but he wasn't putting us over Golden State anyways." "I hope Jimmy is miserable with his new team." "Have fun chasing the 6th/7th/8th seed with [new team]" "Screw Tom Thibodeau" "Screw the Timberwolves. I hope they suck forever and are moved out of Minnesota."
Well, this makes sense. You want to be able to compete still. But forcing us to take Dieng would get iffier (despite our desperate need for size in the post, just not at that cost). And yielding a bunch of first rounders? Er, uh......
the only way to take dieng would be to trade Capela to a 3rd team that wants a center and receive dieng
At this point if the hold up is EG and Jimmy Butler gets traded elsewhere Morey needs to be fired. EG and 4 firsts for Jimmy Butler is a no brainer
I’m assuming we’ve made our best offer by now. Can’t see Jimmy ending up here at all anymore (I had a little hope when Oct 31st came around). The only way our offer improves is if we continue to lose as we get closer to the trade deadline, thus making our first rounder next year lottery bound, thus making this season a piece of s**t. EDIT: If it’s true we offered 4 unprotected first rounders then Minnesota really dropped the ball not accepting.
Well we still have one card to play....and that is to include Gordon, which by all accounts, doesnt seem like its happend yet.
Look for trades with Miami that relieve them of salaries (specifically Whiteside/Waiters/Tyler Johnson) to help them out of the tax and shorter contracts, in exchange for an asset or two from them. For instance Knight/Chriss for ..... Johnson and Winslow. Without a bunch of picks thrown in. Miami doesn't really have superstar players. But they do have a number of pieces that make sense here....Winslow, JRich, JJohnson, McGruder, even possibly Goran.
