Shams saying it was butlers decision to sit out to push a trade and Woj saying the team recommended that he rests. What do you guys think? I think I trust shams more here but woj has literally never been wrong too so it’s hard who to believe
Yep. This might come down to which owner caves first. Get your poker face on, Tilman. This is your first true test as an owner.
Butler decided to sit and announced it to Thibs and Minny allowed it. If they refused it then there would be consequences and much more to the story.
He will only say something if he is told to do so by the Rockets....... if it comes from him, it means the Rockets want the fans to know something.
I am not upset at Thibs for holding anything up but I am annoyed at the inept Wolves front office (though not new) to give Thibs both coaching and GM authority. Such a huge conflict of interest (see: Rivers, Doc). As a coach it is Thibs' job to win now and as a GM its do whats best for the franchise. He is more worried being a coach first than anything else. And he let this sort of animosity foster between KAT/Wiggins and Butler - he certainly didn't squash it thats for sure. Most importantly whats probably most disappointing to Butler is that he loves Thibs and already scarified so much for Thibs that Thibs isn't showing him the same loyalty and moving him to a place thats better both for Butler and for the Wolves. To me this is less about the player in Jimmy Butler but the stubbornness of Thibs and its just causing a ton of issues not just for the Wolves franchise now but other teams as well. Taylor doesn't want to fire Thibs because of how much is owed to him but he should be able to over ride Thibs and just trade and if Thibs has an issue he can quit and forfeir the money owed to him.
