Especially considering that CP3 is the players union president...

That seems like a plausible reason for a delay.

That team really is messed up.

The coach and GM are openly defying the owner.
Their only proven star has demanded a trade.
Wiggins is signed to a five year max level deal and looks like a bust.
KAT wouldn't sign his max deal until the team agreed to trade Butler.

I completely agree that the Rockets should trade for Butler. However, Morey should stand firm on not including Tucker. The goal is to beat the Warriors, and Tucker is the Rockets best and most versatile defender. The objective isn’t to take two steps forward (getting Butler), one step backward (trading Tucker).

Also, go try and find a Draymond Green caliber defender for the veteran minimum. They will laugh at the offer. P.J. Tucker isn’t on Draymond’s level defensively, but he’s in the tier right below. He can guard twos, threes, fours and fives.

He’s not some easily replaceable part in the Rockets defensive scheme. Him and CP3 are the engine that will have to make it go this season.

Really hoping the Rockets can keep Tucker in a potential Butler trade.

Hoping the framework is something like this:
    http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yby8rnx5

    HOU: Butler
MIN: Gordon, Koufus (or Randolph, or Shumpert), Zhou + ROCKETS 1st.
    SAC: Dieng, Nene, + Rockets 1st + Wolves 2nd.

Perhaps in a 2nd solo trade, trade Chriss to Sac for McLemore as a second asset for SAC.

Rockets are going to have to give up one 1st round pick. But I would be willing to give up a second 1st round pick if I could keep Tucker in this deal.

SAC has a BUNCH of expiring deals to move things around.

I'm curious what the rules are on guaranteeing our 2way contracts and trade eligibility for them.

Theoretically, if we could guarantee Clark and Edwards (and Qi) who have already been signed for over a month, can they be used for salary matching purposes in trades immediately?

I doubt they can, but if they could somehow, it would open up the potential to take back Dieng without moving Knight, which should be a really enticing offer for Minny.

Gordon, Tucker, Qi, 19 & 21 1st .. plus fillers to be waived by minny (Nene, Clark, Edwards)

    for

    Butler* (waived trade kicker), Dieng

That would have to be a top offer for Minny.

Anybody know the rules on guaranteeing and trading 2way contracts for salary matching purposes? @craguin, @BimaThug .... @basketballholic ?

    Yep.

Move Knight to Sacramento's cap space, small expiring + Gordon + whatever to Minnesota, Hartenstein here, picks there, but do what you can to keep Tucker.

If Butler and Melo came in free, sure, why not let them walk? My point is, we aren't trading spare parts for Butler or trash for him. Thibs wants 99 cents on the dollar for Butler, and will likely something like 60-75 cents on the dollar. That means picks, that means key rotation players, that means more than just free. Melo fails, who cares? We can even cut him midseason with no effect. Butler is a different story. Morey hasn't handed out picks like party favors in the past either. So my feeling is, even though we are in a win-now mode, Butler's price might be too high and that's why I don't see it getting done.

Now, there's nothing to say Houston can't play scavenger and come in and act as the third team in this trade. That would be much more on the hook of what we do.

PJ will have to be included. I’ve been tracking to figure out an enticing offer for Minny without PJ and EG and there is nothing.

PJ, EG, QI, picks, would have to be the base

I have to disagree that it's black and white. I've always wanted a Tesla but the price tag is too expensive for my taste. Does pj + ego a price that DM is willing to pay? Nobody knows

Just a few months after putting together a "3-star" team and finally making the playoffs for the first time in 13 years.

    Now it's all caca.

Thing is, if Morey got in touch DIRECTLY with Taylor the owner, if Morey can charm him with their trade offer it doesn't matter what Thibs wants to do or the types of players he might want. So, here is to hoping Morey's charms work. ;-)

SAC has a bunch of 1yr expiring deals they could move to satisfy any specific needs. Savings or personnel fits.
    Randolph - 11.7M
    Shumpert - 11M
    Koufos - 8.7M
    McLemore - 5.5M
(Not including WCS as he is a Kings asset)

Plus Kings have 11M in cap room.

in my opinion this lineup is a championship team

    CP3/MCW/Knight
    Harden/Green
    Butler/Ennis
    Melo/Chriss
    Capela/Nene/Hartenstein
